Meet the Cast of “Crazy Rich Asians”

How much do you ever really know about the person you’re with? In Crazy Rich Asians the dark part of the story isn’t quite as bad as it could be, but the part about being rich is something that would be nice to know about just as a courtesy. Of course some people tend to want to get away from the kind of influence that can give them whatever they want since what they want at times is something that their money can’t buy. In this movie a college professor accompanies her boyfriend to the wedding of one of his friends only to discover that not only is his family filthy rich, but they’re the kind of people that tend to look down on anyone that isn’t. Taking after the book that inspired it this movie is something that not a lot of people will be able to relate but is still a tale that some might see as a modern day love story.

Here are just a few of the cast members that you can look forward to seeing.

Ken Jeong – Goh Wye Mun

Ken has been seen in such a wide number of films that it’s hard to predict what he’s going to be like in each one until he shows up and gives the performance that he’s there for. In fact it’s kind of fun just to anticipate what he’s going to do since most of the time he’s a very funny guy. He can do drama though and he can be serious, but in all truthfulness it’s when he’s acting crazy that he seems to get the most attention.

Gemma Chan – Astrid Leong-Teo

Gemma has seen a lot of success in her career as of late and there’s nothing to say that it’s going to stop anytime soon especially with her role in this movie. She’s been a favorite of many fans between TV and film at this point and there’s a lot of hope that she’ll keep shining for as long as she can.

Awkwafina – Goh Peik Lin

A lot of people either like Awkwafina or don’t know what to think about her. She hasn’t garnered a lot of hate from anyone save those that might think she’s overrated. Of course such people usually don’t have enough to do with their lives and tend to go trying to break others down just for the heck of it. Awkwafina seems to do things at her own pace and so far it seems to have worked for her.

Michelle Yeoh – Eleanor Sung-Young

Michelle is someone you can depend on as far as acting goes since she’s been solid ever since starting out in her career many years ago. While she’s been seen as a warrior maiden and a fighter in many ways she can also be viewed as a very cultured and serious woman that knows how to act and how to present herself as a lady. Her inclusion into this film is a sure sign that it’s bound to get a little high-brow at one point, as she can play a very authoritarian role.

Henry Golding – Nick Young

As one of the main characters he has the distinction of being one of the most important people in the movie. This is a lot of pressure to put on anyone but he seems to have handled it pretty well. That’s not too hard to figure out since he’s been around for a while and knows how to present himself in a way that people will respond to in a positive manner. Despite a few critics thinking that he wasn’t quite right for the part Henry looks like he belongs where he is without fault.

Constance Wu – Rachel Chu

It goes without saying that she’ll probably be lauded as the big star of the movie since her character is the main focus and the one that has to deal with the surprise that comes when she figures out her boyfriend is not only rich, but he comes from a family that is super rich and also super-discerning when it comes to who he happens to be with. This kind of movie tends to pull at the heartstrings in many different ways as it’s intended to do but can also speak to the differences between people within society that are continually felt yet never fully addressed.

There’s no doubt going to be a great deal of levity in the movie to break up the otherwise awkward moments that are bound to be designed to make people feel uncomfortable and off-balance, and it seems as though the movie is poised to become yet another love story where the woman must earn her way into the social circle of the man she loves. It’s a fairly old story but many people seem to find one way after another to bring it to life yet again.
