Jason Mraz is among the group of singer/songwriters that people either pay great attention to or tend to notice and then let slip past them. It’s not an insult to say that his music isn’t for everyone since people have different tastes and desires when it comes to what they listen to. He’s definitely in that group that are environmentally and health-conscious and makes it known that he enjoys a healthier lifestyle and cares about things in the world. Many people like that while some tend to go their own way and do their own thing without giving this lifestyle much thought. Mraz however is also quite talented and has proven this throughout a career that’s allowed him to become quite successful and continue a trend that came about in the 90s and hasn’t really gone away but has emerged as one of the more popular musical styles in the world.
Here are a few things you might not know about him.
10. He had a very good upbringing.
A lot of musicians and artists in general seem to have troubled if not downright miserable upbringings since when their parents divorce things can get quite ugly. But Mraz has stated that despite his parents divorcing he was still brought up in a way that allowed him to be well-adjusted and fully secure in the knowledge that he’d always be taken care of. He was also raised a in very calm and nurturing town, which could be why he seems like such a stable individual.
9. He was part of the cheer squad at his high school.
Looking at him now you might not think that he would be the kind of person that had ever been on a cheer squad but he got into it during high school and seemed to have a good time with it. Male cheerleaders tend to get a bad rep for being less than masculine at times but on some squads that’s not the case since the stuff they do requires a lot of strength and concentration.

8. At point he enrolled in a university but then made a long road trip west that eventually led to his career.
It almost seems as though he was trying to find himself in one way or another and decided to head out west in order to start something that he felt was right but hadn’t had the chance to think through completely. However when he got there he started making a bit of noise as it didn’t take him too long to get going.
7. He started out as a roadie for Elgin Parkway.
Everyone’s got to start somewhere, right? Some of the greatest musicians in the world had very humble beginnings and to be quite honest it gives them a sense of character more often than not as it reminds them that not everyone is a breakout star right away.
6. He owns an avocado farm in California.
Jason is very much into healthy living and eats a lot of vegan foods raw as much as he can. This lifestyle isn’t followed by everyone obviously and is hard to sustain simply because people have grown used to meat and processed foods. But he’s a staunch believer in living healthy.

5. He has a wide array of hobbies.
He’s a big fan of yoga, surfing, and photography, all ways that show that he settled into the California lifestyle perfectly and embraced his new home without much difficulty at all. That sounds like a rather chill lifestyle when he’s not on the road or performing.
4. He’s very passionate about social activism.
Jason is the kind of guy that wants to get out and do things that can make the world a better place. A lot of people have followed him because of this and his influence has done quite a bit of good over the years.
3. He’s won quite a few awards.
His music is so calm and chill that one can’t help but feel relaxed upon listening. That and the fact that those giving the awards feel that he’s earned them are the reasons why he’s been so successful in his endeavors.

2. His career started up in 1999.
His career didn’t really take off until a year later but as with just about everything it does take a little bit of time to get your name out there, establish a following, and then gain a fan base. After that however his career took a serious upswing and he’s been a known name ever since.
1. His musical style has been heavily influenced by Brazilian music.
There’s something uniquely pleasing about his music that allows the mind to slow down and just enjoy the notes and stay still for just long enough to enjoy the moment. Something about Brazilian music is very much the same, so you can see how he latched onto something that’s very enticing to a lot of people.
As one of the better singer/songwriters around Jason Mraz is still quite popular with some crowds.
