At this point in her career Sarah Paulson is probably best known for her parts in American Horror Story since she’s been seen in every season as one of the only recurring actors that’s never left. But she’s been a fixture on the big screen as well and it’s well-deserved since she’s an incredible actress and can put a lot of emotion into whatever she does. Her level of talent is something that’s not so amazing that it’s bound to be lauded everywhere she goes, but she has flashes of brilliance that are worth watching when they come along since she can put in a performance that’s absolutely stunning when it’s on point.
Of course AHS is kind of her domain at this point and real hook when it comes to fame right now.
5. Mud
Her role in Mud isn’t that big but it is necessary to show that Ellis does have someone at home that does care for him and he’s not some wild child. The ironic part about that is that while he’s out helping someone to get their life together in a weird, sort of convoluted way, his own home life is falling apart since his parents are about to get divorced which means that their home, a houseboat, is going to be destroyed.
4. What Women Want
Playing the assistant to a man that’s little more than a womanizer and a rather chauvinistic mess would have its downfalls but at the very least Nick does start to learn from his mistakes when he starts to realize just how badly he’s been treating the women in his office building. When he finally starts ‘listening’ his attitude improves greatly and he finds that while his life is disrupted at first it starts to make a lot more sense.
3. Blue Jay
Sometimes there’s a lot left unsaid when it comes to relationships and what happens between a couple years in the past can be forgotten as the present slowly takes over and the future continues to roll on. But when those old pains and pleasures are revisited it becomes a rather hazardous landscape where anything can happen and old feelings could possibly intrude on a life that’s already moved on.
2. The Post
This is why governments should fear their people more than the people should fear the government, because those who have gumption to write and research whatever the government wants to keep from the people will feel duty-bound to do so. The Post made it loud and clear, as did many throughout history that have done this, that if you go up against a larger and more ruthless opponent then the odds are never in your favor, but there’s always a chance that the bigger opponent will find that they are not as tough as they think they are.
1. Ocean’s 8
It hasn’t come out yet but it already looks like it will be worth going to just to see if it matches up to the other films, of which it will be considered as part of the legacy no matter what. Face it, the last name of the main character is Ocean and they’re doing roughly the same thing that the men did only in a different venue. That being said though it could be highly entertaining as the film has some quality actresses showing up to play the roles.
She’s fun to watch, ’nuff said.
