Death Note and Spongebob Crossover is Too Good to Pass Up

A crossover that incorporates Spongebob and Death Note might be too good for some people to pass up but it seems like more of a horror than either of the series could ever put together on their own. Thinking of Spongebob going off the deep end and discovering that he had the power to kill people he didn’t like by writing their names in a notebook would be absolutely terrifying since the sponge-bodied character is not the most likely individual when it comes to wielding any kind of authority, let alone power. Of course it might be that some fan in their own, obscure way could make it work. It’s even enough to state that someone might slap a ratty toupee on the sponge and try likening him to a certain world leader. That might be a little TOO creepy.

Just think of it, a notebook that can kill anyone once their name is written in it. Now think of that power being held by someone like Spongebob and what it might mean if he was made angry in any way. His kind of intelligence, or lack thereof, would preclude the possibility of many upon many people expiring if they so much as irked him in any way, as the clip below seems to suggest. Now given that he is kind of impulsive at times and yet not so hot-headed as to just fly off the hook all the time, it might be that he would be able to balance the power of the notebook and do some actual good. But it doesn’t seem too likely since he’s a talking sponge that acts goofier than most of the Looney Tunes put together. It’s more possible that he’d become one of the greatest threats ever he managed to get his hands on such an item.

The idea of the Death Note, at least from Light’s reasoning, is that it can be used to get rid of the more undesirable elements in a society. That might be seen as a good thing by many people who would want to take the most devious and disgusting people and lock them away somewhere in a deep, dark hole and just leave them. But it still begs the question of what happens to one’s humanity the more the Death Note is used. If a single person becomes judge, jury, and executioner on a continual basis, without the wisdom or experience that is needed, then they run the risk of becoming exactly what they’re attempting to get rid of. And on another note of interest, if a person were to get rid of all the undesirable characters in the world, then what would be left? If you have no evil then good is no longer relevant. Despite the Utopian society that many people would wish for the idea of humanity is not just one or the other.

Besides, putting the Death Note in Spongebob’s hands could mean that people would start dropping like flies without him being mad. It might happen that he’d think he was doing something interesting as he killed off everyone he knew.
