The recent Jumanji reboot was like a roller coaster ride. When Sony first announced that it was going to remake the Robin Williams beloved classic, we all got on a high in excitement about the idea. But as soon as we found out that it was going to feature four adult characters, we knew it wasn’t going to be like the old film. So we were let down a bit. But then our hopes went back up when we learned that The Rock was starring in it. Not soon after, we were let down again realizing that the new movie was going to be about a video game instead of the classic board game. Either way, the film came out; we watched it and were pleasantly surprised at how good the new Jumanji actually was. Good job, Sony.
But of course, the folks at Honest Trailers can’t let the film and the company off that easily. Due to overwhelming requests from fans and haters alike, Honest Trailers has released a unique look at Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. They pointed out a few things that we missed when we watched the movie. We couldn’t pay too much attention, for one, because Dwayne Johnson was in it. Two, there was so much action and death in the film–which actually worked for Sony this time–that it was just hard to dig deep.
As Honest Trailers pointed out, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is nothing more than a page from the book of another classic, The Breakfast Club. Is that too hard to picture? Watch the trailer and learn for yourself. This trailer gets it so right that it might be funnier than the actual film. It doesn’t take away from how surprisingly good this Jumanji reboot actually ended up to be, but it does point out everything that’s wrong about Sony trying to make a franchise film again.
