Sara Gilbert from Roseanne says that it was her idea to bring back the show. It kind of sounds like that the only one that had any issue with coming back was Roseanne. The issue was pretty easy to resolve however and the entire original cast came back. It’s not too hard to think that she would be able to do this however since she does come from a show business background, as her grandfather created The Honeymooners. Honestly apart from a couple of the other stars she’s had the biggest influence in bringing this show back, and a lot of people might have overlooked her contributions.
Of course it remains to be seen if bringing Roseanne back is the best idea in the world, but so far everyone seems to be psyched for it and are at least willing to give the show the benefit of the doubt. After all it was one of the more loved shows during its time but when 1997 rolled around it was already on its way out the door. The only issue was whether Dan would still be alive or not and how much the show would change if it ever did come back. So far from what’s been seen in the promos the show has changed obviously, but it hasn’t changed so much that it can’t be recognized. The main characters are still there after all, and the main plot of the show is still the life and times of the Connor’s, both old and young. Now however there’s another generation of them and a new era in which to exist that will put the family to a new set of tests that they have to pass in order to keep up their happy home. Of course happy is a relative term since the group seems to be happiest when at least one if not all of them are miserable in some way.
What’s the saying? Oh yes, misery breeds company, or misery loves company. It’s all in how you decide to say it as to whether or not it will make sense. But the Connor household usually thrives on some type of drama and in this day and age that’s perfect since there’s plenty of material in the media and around the world that they could use to liven up the show in one way or another. Especially with DJ being in the armed forces it seems that the show would open itself up to a host of comments and ideas that would manage to fuel the forward progress in a way that is perfect for a show like this. People that remember the show, and there’s a lot of us, are no doubt expecting the tirades and the unending bombardment of this or that when it comes to how the show will choose to present its written material. Without getting political it will no doubt reflect the everyday lives of those people existing in this era with as much attention to detail as possible.
Ah yes, back to the good old days of now.
