Five Things You Didn’t Know about Tory Lanez

Tory Lanez is someone you might call just a bit controversial. He’s had kind of a rough upbringing which could explain part of it as he was on his own as a teenager and had to learn how to do for himself at a young age. But while that might be an explanation it doesn’t really go all the way to excusing the few things he’s done in his life that are still questionable. There’s no doubt he has skill and can put on a good show, but he’s been a little confrontational in the past and it still might come back to bite him.

You can be yourself all you want but sometimes you do need to follow the rules of society.

5. His real name is Daystar Peterson.

That’s no joke, this is his legal name. It’s not a bad name really just a little unusual since you don’t hear someone being named Daystar all that often. It could have been that his parents had high hopes for him. Obviously that panned out but it did take him a while to get where he’s at now. Tory didn’t have the easiest life if in the world but it taught him a lot about who he wanted to be.

4. Lanez was a nickname given to him by a friend.

His friend Hakeem gave him this nickname since Tory used to have a habit of mucking around in the streets for some reason. He wouldn’t worry about crossing lanes as he went about his business so that was the nickname that he was given. It kind of speaks to his behavior and the kind of lifestyle he lived to start out with.

3. Thanks to his behavior issues he moved around a lot.

He went to live with his half-brother, then his grandmother, and eventually he was out on his own and living with three other guys that he didn’t know. It was constant struggle to just survive and do for himself most times which is why he seems like a very confrontational person. It’s the kind of life that could only create someone that understands people by hardening them up first.

2. He began singing at outdoor concerts.

He hadn’t had any vocal lessons before he started rapping and went into with just the idea and the desire. Eventually however he learned how to read the crowd and how to conform his music to what they wanted to hear. It’s pretty normal to give people what they want in the beginning just to get by as not conforming at first is a sure way to avoid getting noticed for a good long while.

1. There was an incident at one of his concerts in 2016.

The incident took place between the security and the fans. When Tory saw this he called out to his fans to mess everything up, but in a much more expletive-laden manner. Needless to say the owners of the venue weren’t too happy and are still considering taking legal action against Tory.

Sometimes you’ve got to know when to tone things down.
