Sarah Drew is about to make an exit from the long running “Grey’s Anatomy. After a decade spent as part off the cast, season 14 will see the end of her involvement with the show. Sarah’s fans may not like the fact that she’s next in a long line of dramatic exits, but here is something to make you feel a little better about her departure. Here are five things you didn’t know about Sarah Drew.
Sarah Drew is a religious person
This is something that many fans didn’t know about the actress who is at the peak of her career. The fact that her character April is a Christian made the role a perfect fit for her on many levels. After getting to know Sarah, the character was rewritten to make her religious because it was a good direction to take the character on the show. April wasn’t originally slated to be religious and it was Sarah’s personality that inspired the change. It worked very well for the series.
Sarah has struggled in the entertainment business
One of the most difficult things that Sarah Drew has had to deal with is how to stay grounded and true to her faith while making a successful go of it in show business. The role on “Grey’s Anatomy” didn’t present a conflict, but Hollywood is filled with opportunities that could offer fame, fortune and notoriety, but not all of them would be in line with Sarah’s beliefs and values. She’s done a great job of keeping it together and when she comes to a crossroads in career, or in her life, she prays for God’s guidance, holding firm to the beliefs that make her uniquely who she is as a person.
Sarah is a young mom
How many fans knew that Sarah Drew has two kids? She is married and even though her career is currently on fire, she maintains her role as wife and mom. The actress will soon turn 37 and it would appear that she has it all. She’s beautiful, has a wonderful family and a successful career as an actress. Way to go Sarah!
Sarah’s character was slated for the axe long ago
When Sarah Drew accepted the role of Dr. April Kepner, she knew that the execs of the show had planned for the doctor to be fired from the job. She was originally written into the script for just two episodes as a guest on the show. April was fired, but the chemistry of the character with the rest of the cast was just too good to let go. They brought her back with rapid speed and decided to keep her until the fourteenth season. Wow! Sarah made quite a first impression!
Drew worked with Shonda Rhimes on two series
Most people know that Shonda Rhimes is a brilliant artist. The dramas that she creates are some of the hottest entertainment series on the air. Sarah previously worked with Shonda on a spin-off of “Grey’s” called “Private Practice.” Since Shonda was familiar with her work from earlier, Sarah didn’t even have to audition to get the role of April Kepner on “Grey’s.” This just goes to show you how important it is to make the right connections in Hollywood. Sarah Drew is just one of those actresses that producers know they can depend on.
