Fans were left bewildered this week when a countdown to the sale for tickets for Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s joint tour was posted on Ticketmaster and on Beyoncé’s Facebook page. The announcement was taken down after just a few minutes leaving fans to wonder whether the much anticipated concert tour was real or a hoax. Some fans worried that tickets had already sold out in a presale. It does look like the tour is real.
Here is what we know.
Posting
Did someone reveal something that was meant to be kept under wraps? Monday, March 5, the Beyoncé and Jay-Z concert was announced on both Beyoncé’s Facebook page and on Ticketmaster’s web site. As fast as the posts went up they disappeared. Fans took to twitter fast trying to figure out if the Carter superstars were really going to team up for a second concert tour. They performed a joint tour in 2014. Ticketmaster’s site advertised a pre-sale of tickets scheduled to begin at 10 am on March 6 for the duo’s tour on July 30 at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field. A general ticket sale was to follow on March 10. When the postings disappeared minutes later, fans were left in a panic. Was the couple going to have the much anticipated tour or was it a hoax? One fan joked on twitter that the brief announcement was just so fans could start raising money for tickets.
Rumors
Rumor and speculation have been swirling that the Carters would hold a sequel tour to their 2014 On the Run tour. That huge stadium tour was a huge success with Beyoncé performing her music, her husband performing his, and the superstar couple performing together on stage. Beyoncé and Jay-Z hinted back in January at a new album together and a second tour would come this year. The just released their video for “Family Feud” from Jay-Z’s 4:44 album. They also were both featured on DJ Khaled’s new track “Top Off”.
Inside Scoop
Officially, both Beyoncé’s camp and Jay-Z’s camp have stayed quiet about the posting glitch on March 5. However, insiders say a tour is definitely in the works and set to kick off this summer, so we should know soon if its a go. “On the Run 2” would be a sequel to the Carter’s 2014 tour. A lot has happened since then. Beyoncé came out with Lemonade and Jay-Z came out with 4:44. Jay-Z admitted what fans guessed by the lyrics of both albums: Jay-Z had been unfaithful but the couple had worked out the issue for the sake of their love for each other and their family.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z have been good about keeping their relationship quiet. Rumors that they were dating began in the early 2000’s but the two maintained their relationship was purely professional. When they married in April 2008, they didn’t publicly announce their marriage for months. The Carters have been just as cryptic announcing the birth of their children, Blue Ivy, in 2012 and twins, Rumi and Sir, last year. Nevertheless it looks like the much anticipated reunion tour will kick off this summer. Insiders also say the couple plan to take their three children on tour with them. Fans will be happy to find out the details for sure.
