CBS has greenlit the pilot for the comedy “I Mom So Hard”. The multi-camera comedy series will star Kristen Hensley and Jen Smedley, the creators of the #imomsohard web series that explores their lives as friends, moms and wives. The real life friends turn the difficulties of being a mom and the mistakes they make into a comedy routine that has been so successful on their Facebook page and YouTube channel that CBS has picked up the sketches for a new comedy series. The television show will be produced by Warner Brothers TV wih Michelle Nader and Rob Thomas. Nader, Hensley and Smedley co-write the series. Freddie Prinze Jr. and David Flynn have been picked to play the comedic moms’ husbands.
Here is what we know about “I Mom So Hard”.
#imomsohard
The new comedy series is based on the comedic sketches of Kristen Hensley and Jen Smedley. The pair are from Nebraska but didn’t meet until they were both living in Los Angeles beginning careers in television and comedy. Both comedians have appeared in television commercials. Hensley appeared in “Parks and Recreation” and “Brooklyn 99”. Smedley appeared in “Workless” and “Literally So Busy”. The two would go on to marry around the same time and have children (both have two) around the same age. Their love of comedy and close friendship helped Hensley and Smedley get through the trials of motherhood and marriage. The two took their routines to the web. They began posting videos on their Facebook page because they figured tired moms would need some comic relief at all hours of the day. They soon began a YouTube channel posting videos discussing mom challenges, mom judgement, their love of relaxing with a glass of wine at the end of the day and binge watching the latest TV shows. They perform hilarious skits including fan favorite, “I Spanx So Hard”. The pair have 1.1 million likes on the Facebook page and 58,000 subscribers to their YouTube channel. They have a combined 100 million views of their videos. In 2017 Hensley and Smedley took their show on a national tour. “Mom’s Night Out: Summer Break Tour” was a success. The pair have also been spokeswomen for Yoplait Yogurt’s “Mom On” campaign.
