Lindsay Lohan has expressed a clear interest in playing the titular character in the upcoming Batgirl movie that is being headed by Joss Whedon. After all, she has started up a campaign on Twitter to let Whedon know about it, which consisted of her asking her fans to re-tweet a statement of her interest. This seems to be part of Lohan’s recent efforts to restart her acting career, which so far, has resulted in her playing roles in an upcoming indie movie called The Shadow Within as well as an upcoming British sitcom called Sick Note.
Regardless, it remains to be seen whether Lohan will be able to secure the role of Barbara Gordon in the upcoming Batgirl movie or not. After all, a number of other actresses have expressed their interest in the role as well, meaning that there is a fair amount of competition. Furthermore, it is interesting to note that Whedon has stated that he wants to find someone who is perfectly suited for the titular role in the upcoming Batgirl movie, meaning that while he has nothing against established actresses, it is possible that he will be looking for someone new.

With that said, it should be mentioned that no one in the public knows what stage of the production process the upcoming Batgirl movie is on, meaning that this speculation over who will play what role seems like it could be more than a little bit premature. This is particularly true because while DC has not been hesitant in announcing a wide range of projects, it has been less forthcoming about bringing them to the movie screen.
In fact, some people have speculated that Whedon might have been removed from the upcoming Batgirl movie because of the less than impressive performance of Justice League at the box office, which saw a fair amount of involvement from Whedon following the original director Zack Snyder stepped aside because of personal issues related to the tragic death of his daughter. As a result, while the concerns of people interested in the upcoming Batgirl movie are more than understandable in light of current circumstances, they should not be too panicked about it just yet.

Time and time alone will tell whether Lohan will be able to secure the role of Barbara Gordon on the upcoming Batgirl movie. People who remember her earlier career with moves such as Mean Girls and A Prairie Home Companion will remember that she was hailed as being a more than capable actress at the time, but it would be interesting to see whether she has retained that same expertise and experience in the present.
