The Red Hot Chili Peppers were formed in 1983 if you don’t remember. Personally I always thought they were a 90’s band up until high school since some of their music sounded so new and fresh that they had to have come on the scene just recently. But honestly I was still little when they came out which is kind of a surprise but also pretty cool. They’ve been kicking it ever since and have undergone their fair share of trials and tribulations but have still managed to stick together this long, making them one of the oldest bands still around at over three decades. That’s impressive for any band but it seems really indicative of a few of those formed in the 90’s and 80’s.
Maybe those were just good years to form solid, lasting bands.
5. Carpool Karaoke-Under the Bridge
By far one of my favorite songs of the Chili Peppers I still am looking at this video and shaking my head. Jame Corden seems willing to do just about anything to keep his guests happy and I guess that includes stripping down to his skivvies, or perhaps just as far as his pants, to jam with one of the greatest bands from the 80’s. That’d be a sight going down the road.
4. Superbowl 48
It sounds terrible since I was one of the many Seahawks fans loving that game but I honestly forgot that the Chili Peppers were there until I saw this clip. When you’re next to Bruno Mars, who was having a stellar career at that point and still is in fact, it’s hard to really compete when your own career has been going steady but not making the regular leaps and bounds of before.
3. The Fighter-Strip My Mind
All the music in this movie it seems was perfectly positioned with each scene to show the transition of Mickey Ward from a rough and tough fighter who couldn’t catch a break and stood in the shadow of his older brother to the guy that finally got his title shot and shut the champ down. The movie took a lot of liberties but after watching the real fight I can say that Mickey Ward was due his moment.
2. Walking Tall
A lot of people really prefer the original series to this movie but for what it was the film was pretty cool. It came out at a time when Dwayne Johnson was really needing a hit movie and Johnny Knoxville just needed another push into films. It might not have done too well at the box office but it was still a fun movie and it pitted the action star with the comic sidekick perfectly.
1. Beavis and Butthead Do America-Rollercoaster
Sigh. It was bad enough that these two rejects had their own show, but putting them in a movie was kind of a longer version of the same jokes they’d been doing for so long. Yet people did happen to like the movie even though it wasn’t something that was intended to be much of anything. The soundtrack was good at least.
I’d finish off with a lyric, but it’s hard to pick just one.
