2017 was kind of a hit and miss year for movies, but there’s a good chance that the films we’re going to want to see in 2018 will be something special and more than able to live up to our expectations. After all some of the biggest names are coming together on the screen this next year and stories that a lot of us have been waiting for seemingly forever are about to make their way onto the screen where they’ve been wanted for so long. The hope is that this next year will either match or surpass what has already come, and we know by now what happens when we start to expect too much, but the likelihood that the films coming out in 2018 will be flat out awesome is insanely high.
It could be a busy year for blockbusters.
5. Black Panther
He’s not just the first black superhero to throw his hat into the ring with all the others, but the Black Panther is a guy that’s on par with the likes of Captain America and several other superheroes in terms of strength, speed, and combat intelligence. He’s unlike a lot of superheroes in that he’s a king in his country and has almost unlimited access to anything he needs. He’s going to be a fun one to watch.
4. A Wrinkle In Time
So many of us can remember this book from our childhoods that it’s been stamped on our consciousness since before we knew the ins and outs of the theater. Why it’s taken so long to produce a film about it in this manner is hard to imagine but with this movie coming to theaters expect people that remember reading this story to flock to the movies on the release date.
3. Tomb Raider
So far the expectations are high for this one but some people are still keeping their opinions close to the vest since the last Tomb Raider movies didn’t really do much but show how well Angelina Jolie can fit into tight clothing. This one has a lot of damage control to do and a good deal of work to repair and replenish the legend of Lara Croft. A lot of people will go just because it’s Tomb Raider though.
2. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
There are a lot of folks wondering why anyone would bother to go back to a land where the animals are more likely to kill them instead of thanking them for the rescue. Dinosaurs don’t know much about impending death other than it’s something to run away from. A lot more people will go to this out of curiosity and a for a chance to see the awesome effects again, but it could still be a big hit.
1. Avengers: Infinity War
A crossover in the comics was something special to read, and it should be something equally special to watch when this long-awaited first part of the Infinity War comes out in theaters. Expect comics fans and those that love the MCU to flock to theaters and watch at least two or three times as Thanos makes his destructive way onto the screen.
It’s going to be a wild year.
