After the world of Gilead terrified us during the first season, The Handmaid’s Tale is kicking off its second season by introducing us to a new character that was mentioned before. Prepare to meet the actress who will play Emily/Ofglen’s wife during the highly-anticipated second season.
Clea DuVall will play the recurring role of Sylvia, the wife of Emily/Ofglen. In case you didn’t remember, Emily mentioned during the first episode that she and her wife attempted to get their son to safety in Canada as Gilead rapidly expanded and extended its control over the United States of America. We can see assume that we’ll get to see flashbacks on that which means that we will finally get to see Emily/Ofglen’s long-awaited backstory.
DuVall is known for her roles in television shows like Veep, Better Call Saul, American Horror Story, The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, and Carnivale. Alexis Bledel, who plays Emily/Ofglen on the show, was promoted to full-time series regular for the second season.

The Handmaid’s Tale‘s highly-anticipated second season is currently in production. It is expected to be consists of 13 episodes and slated to premiere next year. For its first season, the show won an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Elisabeth Moss, Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Ann Dowd, Directing in a Drama Series for Reed Morano, Writing in a Drama Series for Bruce Miller, and Guest Actress in a Drama Series for Bledel.
