The newest show on Syfy is “Superstition.” It premiered on October 20, 2017 and it looks like Mario Van Peebles has a winner on his hands. It is the production of XLrator Media and MVPTV, his newly launched television production company. If you missed the first episode, it’s not too late to climb on board and it’s the season for thrills and frights and to encourage you to give it a try, here are five things that you didn’t know about the show.
1. The season is packed
The new SyFy show has been pre-approved to air 12 episodes. This means that you won’t have to worry about starting a new show only to have it cancelled partway through the season. Mario Van Peebles who became famous for his inovlvement in films such as “Roots,” “Hand of God,” “Lost,”and “Bloodline” has written, directed and will even appear as a character in many of the episodes. If you’re familiar with his work, you’ll be excited about his new series and this is reason enough to tune in.
2. It’s a must-see for horror genre fans
“Superstition” is a horror genre television series that centers on the Hastings family who own and operat the only graveyard and funeral hoome in the town of La Rochelle. When demons cause strange deaths to occur, the family handles what they call “afterlife care” for the victims. The entire town is haunted by otherworldly phenomena and it guarantees one scary thrill after another.
3. The show gets its name from the sentiments towards the Hastings family
The plot thickens because the Hastings family has long been eyed by suspicious townspeople. There is something that isn’t quite right about them, because they seem to have an odd connection to the paranormal side of life that goes way beyond preparing the dead for their final resting place. Instead of only dealing with their physical remains, they deal with the souls and also with demonic entities and other creatures that are not of this world. Anyone would eye them with suspicion and it makes for an interesting situation for everyone who lives in the town.
4. Van Peebles designed the show to push boundaries
If you’re a fan of supernatural myths and lore, then this is the ideal show for you because it wades deeply into these topics adn takes us into the realms of dark forces and all of the horrible things that haunt us in the form of nightmares. The world is constantly longing for more intensity and this show delivers as much as you’ll be able to withstand.
5. The Hastings are actually the good guys
Not all of the townspeople realize that the Hasting family actually does battle against the dark forces that they so frequently come into contac with. This impressive group uses old weapons, their knowledge of the occult and the lore associated with each creature, brute strength and mystical alchemy to do their battle with the evil forces. They are impressive in their bravery and depth of knowledge about the things that other mortals shy away from.
