Josh Gad has gotten a reputation for being a funny man with a dramatic flair thus far but his beginnings were pretty modest and at one point he was even thinking of dropping his dream of being an actor to go into law school. Thankfully for little girls all around the world he didn’t give up on his dream and is now well-known for a few roles, one of those being the continually upbeat snowman known as Olaf, a favorite in the film frozen and every show that’s been spawned by the worldwide phenomenon. I’m betting now that Josh Gad is extremely thankful that he didn’t give up on his dream.
Hollywood should be grateful too, he’s a funny guy.
5. The Wedding Ringer-Doug Harris
You know you’ve got problems if you can’t find a single person in your life that wants to be your best man. But honestly, going to someone that takes payment for being in your wedding doesn’t seem like the best option. For a comedy film however it’s about the only way to go since it creates multiple chances for hilarity of the type that leaves people gasping for breath from laughing so hard.
4. Pixels-Ludlow Lamonsoff
There is something uniquely funny about a video game nerd trying to talk down to a bunch of guys that could snap him in half with minimal effort. I suppose when the earth is under attack by aliens that use video games as their weapons however then the nerds might actually be the ones you want to turn to in your hour of greatest need. When it came to his fellow nerds though Ludlow was still kind of out of his depth since the others tended to put him to shame.
3. Angry Birds-Chuck
I don’t know as I’d call Chuck angry, but he’s definitely got issues, and honesty isn’t one of them. Still he’s an interesting character despite the fact that this film didn’t go much of anywhere. In fact I think he’s probably one of THE most interesting characters in the entire film. For a movie that had so many famous voice talents it kind of under-utilized its own star power.
2. Beauty and the Beast-Lefou
I don’t think the huge size differential that was evident in the cartoon is really all that important when comparing it to the live action movie. Lefou was still so much different than Gaston that he played the comical stooge bit just fine. This time around however Lefou actually got to change his tune and ally with the castle defenders when he realized that Gaston was a bit off his rocker. His scene with Mrs. Potts was pretty funny really since the switch was immediate and there was no question about it.
1. Frozen-Olaf
This will likely be his number one role for a long time to come, especially since there is a Frozen 2 in the works at the moment. Little girls and even little boys love this character and cherish Olaf just about as much as they do Elsa and Anna. Poor Kristoff kind of rates just a little below Sven with a lot of people.
Josh Gad is a real talent, and it’s a good thing he didn’t give this up for law school.
