Anybody that really has a vested interest in the paranormal probably likes this time of year. This is when a lot of the paranormal shows start doing premieres for their new seasons. Sometimes, an entirely new series is born out of the process. Last season, exactly that type of situation occurred. Kindred Spirits was born and many fans became dedicated followers of the series almost immediately.
People that have followed paranormal shows for several years will remember the stars of Kindred Spirits, Amy Bruni and Adam Berry, as individuals that had previously been on the popular television show Ghost Hunters. They left that show in approximately 2014, with hopes of developing a new television show that showed more heart overall, personalizing the paranormal experiences of the individuals they were trying to help.
In short, they focus on individuals that believe they are being haunted by loved ones who have passed. In some cases, these are positive experiences and in other cases, they are absolutely terrifying. Either way, Bruni and Berry team up to help individuals better understand what is happening to them and why. They not only strive to show that the paranormal exists, but that it has a profound effect on the individuals who are still living.
The season two premiere, which aired on September 15th on TLC, was certainly not one to disappoint fans. For the premiere, the decision was made to investigate individuals who believed they had a paranormal connection to Lizzie Borden. This alone was enough to make even the casual observer want to tune in. The truth is, die-hard fans of the show could not have possibly been disappointed by the premier and even those individuals who had only seen the show once or twice in the past were no doubt prompted to tune in and watch the show as well. Obviously, this was the whole point. They wanted to impress people that were already fans while simultaneously bringing new people into the mix.
One thing is certain, the season two premiere of Kindred Spirits certainly did not disappoint anyone that took the time to sit down and watch it. If anything, the episode set the stage for a season that promises to have a lot more twists and turns without losing what made the show so popular to begin with. After all, who wouldn’t want to sit down and watch a television show that deals with the paranormal while simultaneously bringing a kinder, gentler side to the entire experience. Anyone that has never had a paranormal experience or that has lost a loved one probably already has a vested interest in the show, since it deals with both topics at the same time.
While season two was a little bit different than the first season, largely because it dealt with the subject of Lizzie Borden, it also applied to a much wider audience. People are more likely to tune in when it is something that everyone is familiar with as opposed to something that is very personal. Perhaps that is the reason they decided to go with this particular story for the premiere episode. Whatever their decision, it was definitely effective. There also seemed to be a little more of an edge to the season two premiere than what had previously existed throughout season one. One thing is certain, this is an exciting time for fans of the show and they will no doubt pick up some new fans along the way if they keep doing things the same way they handled the premiere.
