Horror movies tend to resemble one another. After all, movies are expensive to make, meaning that movie studios are reluctant when it comes to taking on risk. However, there are horror movies from time to time that break from such established patterns, which can come as a welcome contrast to those who crave something more interesting than the usual movie screen fare.
Tragedy Girls is an excellent example of a movie that understands its predecessors but refuses to emulate them in a slavish manner in hopes of replicating their success. In brief, it is a horror movie with comedic elements by Tyler MacIntyre that offers a refreshing premise as well as a solid execution, centered around a couple of the more interesting female characters to be found on the movie screen in recent times.
What Makes Tragedy Girls Stand Out?
There have been numerous horror movies that have been centered around their monsters at least as much as their purported teenage protagonists. However,Tragedy Girls stands out in that its teenage protagonists and its horror monsters are one and the same. To be exact, the movie is centered around Sadie and McKayla, a pair of high school students who provide their amateur reporting about a recent series of murders in their hometown through social media accounts under a shared name.
In any other horror movie, this might have resulted in the two protagonists being hunted down by the monster. In fact,Tragedy Girls opens with Sadie seeming as though she would be the next person to be killed, except that there is a neat reversal of expectations when the killer falls into the trap that she and her best friend has laid for him. After which, the two bring said individual to a water tower where they proceed to hit him with a cattle prod while taking selfies in the process. Suffice to say that Tragedy Girls has a sense of humor that it is not afraid to use.
With that said,Tragedy Girls is supposed to be a horror movie, so it should come as no surprise to learn that there is much more conflict than the amusing but mainly comedic opening. For example, the two protagonists decided to start killing people on their own so as to make their amateur reporting that much easier on them, thus establishing their status as horror movie monsters with no doubt whatsoever. Furthermore, the two protagonist fail to finish off the serial killer that they have captured but instead keep him captive, with the result that he starts attempting to turn them against one another. Summed up,Tragedy Girls has plenty of conflict along with its horror and comedic elements, meaning that it offers much to those who are interested in the premise.
When Can We Expect Tragedy Girls to Come Out?

With that said, an exact release date for the movie theaters has not been announced at this point in time, meaning that interested individuals will want to pay close attention to further news.
