There are so many different television series that are building their own niche fan bases. Television producers are finding ways to appeal to the sensitivities, passions, dreams and fetishes of television viewers. Because of the ever-growing number of television networks, screenwriters and producers are able to find homes for their pilots. One show that is doing well building its fan base is The Mindy Project, and one reason that the show has such appeal is the actor, Isaac “Ike” Barinholtz.
Barinholtz is a comedian, actor and voice-over actor who also doubles as a screenwriter, showing his superior range and talent. To better give you a chance to get to Ike better, we have provided five things that you didn’t know about the actor.
1. He Co-wrote the Comedy Film Central Intelligence
The title screenwriter is not simply there for the sake of padding his resume, but he has proven that he has the talent to create some very interesting work. He was billed as the co-writer of Central Intelligence, a 2016 comedy film that garnered significant attention. It is not clear whether Ike plans on continuing to attempt to balance being in front of the camera while writing screenplays in the background.
2. Ike Gets His Diversity and Broad Reach from His Experience as a Chicago Native
While New York is recognized as the melting pot of the world, Chicago has a very diverse population, and the city is also culturally diverse as well. Ike was able to take the experiences of his developmental years to build a very diverse persona and the depth to take on multiple types of roles. He was born in the Rogers Park part of the city, but he spends most of his childhood years in Lake View, graduating from the Latin School of Chicago.
3. Acting Wasn’t His First Passion
There are some actors that swear that they have always wanted to be an actor from as far back as they can remember, but Ike says that is initial passion was to become a politician; however, he decided almost abruptly to move to Los Angeles in order to pursue a career in acting. It is not clear what prompting Ike to make such an abrupt change in career plans, but there are many people who are definitely glad that he brought his talent to Hollywood.
4. Menial Work is Not Alien to Ike
There are some actors who were either born into the industry, having parents who are actors, or others come from wealthy families who could afford to send them to the best performing and visuals arts institutions. Ike, on the other hand, is no stranger to menial work. He has worked as a busboy and he has also worked for a telemarketing agency for a period of time. 5. After Attending One Comedy Show, He Was Hooked
Ike said that it only took attending one comedy show at The Vic Theatre, where he was able to observe several comedians perform, in order to know that he was definitely going to pursue a comedy career. This same comedy bug also hit Jon Barinholtz, Ike’s younger brother. It is not certain how far he plans to take this dream, but the gates are wide open for him right now.
