John Oliver had plenty of his fair share of Donald Trump moments on Last Week Tonight last night but I’d like to draw attention away from Comey and Trump and focus on Oliver’s main segment called “Brexit II.” You might actually remember that Brexit is a real thing. Given Trump’s administration it kind of feels like Brexit was decades ago but yes, it’s still real, and yes, things are actually happening. In the wake of a divisive election, the UK will begin the process of leaving the European Union.
Last night John Oliver and an intergalactic space lord propose a plan. In case you’re wondering who that space lord is, he goes by the name of “Lord Buckethead.” This is a guy who was actually on a real panel at the English Parliament. No, seriously. This guy actually got 239 votes. This is actual, real politics in England and of course Oliver, a Brit himself had loads to say and make fun of about it.
By the way, if there’s any phrase that should be trending today it’s “Lord Buckethead.”
