I think it’s safe to say that anyone who has seen Wayne’s World most always thinks of the awesome “Bohemian Rhapsody” scene. It’s practically the first thing you associate with that movie. I know that I always do and it brings back such nostalgia. When that song because huge again in the U.S. I’ll never forget how much it was played at big events like all the Bar and Bat Mitzvah’s I went to, as well as weddings in the early to mid 90s. But there’s something you might not know about this song and Queen’s resurgence in the United States at that time.
As it turns out, not long before his death, Freddie Mercury, confined to his bed, got to see an advance copy of the “Wayne’s World” scene with Wayne and Garth headbanging to “Bohemian Rhapsody”. He loved it and approved of the song’s use in the film. The movie, in large part, helped launch Queen’s comeback in the USA.
So not only was Wayne’s World a complete classic of a comedy, it was also hugely responsible for Queen becoming successful again here in the states. So basically if it weren’t for Wayne’s World, Adam Lambert may never have had as big a singing career as he does now.
