How Has Shaq Never Been a Guest Star on The Simpsons?

The Simpsons has had over 500 episodes, has renewed to keep it alive for 30 seasons and over 600 shows, and is one of the most revered cartoons/sitcoms of all time.  The show has had an obscene amount of guest stars and guest voices over its three decade run.  It’s almost impossible to name people who haven’t guest starred on the Simpsons.  Considering how many guest athletes have lent their voices to the show, the biggest surprise of my day has been finding out that Shaq has never guest starred on The Simpsons.  Not once.   That’s finally about to change.

He’s been mentioned a few times over the years and even appeared in a non-speaking cameo in an episode that featured fellow NBA great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, but Shaq’s voice has never been heard in Springfield.  Considering Shaq’s ubiquity on TV for a quarter century and the fact that Shaq has been one of the most famous people in sports since his rookie year in 1992, it’s pretty amazing that he’ll be making his debut on an episode of season 29 on The Simpsons.  As for the episode he’ll be in, Shaq will appear as himself and will offer advice to Homer.

The Simpsons‘ Season 28 finale airs Sunday, May 21 at 8/7c on Fox.
