I’ve decided to add a segment to this site that pays homage to movie characters that didn’t see much screen time but that left an implant in my brain that I was never, ever able to forget. While my crush on Rhona Mitra began after seeing the movie Hollow Man in which she’s in the movie for all of 2 minutes, it was in The Life of David Gale that I realized we had a special actress on our hands. P.S. if you haven’t seen The Life of David Gale it’s a fantastic movie. While Rhona Mitra’s part is tiny and almost insignificant you’ll realize just how much of an impact she actually does have.
Mitra plays a student by the name of Berlin who is failing David Gale’s (Kevin Spacey) class. In a poignant scene (below) she reveals to her professor that she would do “anything” to pass his class. I have to say, if I were a college professor and a female as seductive looking as Mitra came up to me in this situation, I’d have to think long and hard about what I’d do. As you’ll see from the clip, it’s not an easy decision.
Mitra’s character eventually tries to blackmail Spacey’s after eventually seducing him (there’s a much much more intense scene with the two). But man, I will never forget this character, ever.
