Legends of Tomorrow: Team Travels to Camelot. Evil Rip Controls Gideon.

Legends of Tomorrow

If history has taught us anything, it’s that we must stand up for what we believe is right. No matter what the cost. On tonight’s episode of Legends of Tomorrow, Ray is standing up for Camelot as it falls under attack. That and he’s living a childhood dream by becoming one of the Knights of the Round Table.

Quite a few things were happening in this episode. First Evil Rip acquired a mind control device from Dr. Mid-Nite in the year 3000. I so saw the whole use a knife to dig out the Spear fragment out thing coming. He then used said device to control King Arthur to retrieve another piece of the Spear of Destiny. Here’s the somewhat mind-blowing part. The piece is the tip of the sword in the stone, aka, Excalibur. Yeah, it’s hard to believe but it’s television so go with it. Though I have to admit that it was way too easy for Amaya to pull the sword from the stone. Then again, she has animal powers on her side, the Knights that attempted this feat only had their strength to call upon.

Speaking of the mind control device from the future, when Mick was able to use the device on Professor Stein, I was at a loss for words. I thought that it would do the same thing as with Evil Rip and King Arthur. Guess I thought wrong. Either that or Evil Rip is the ignorant one. I also wonder how he will use Gideon to his advantage in his escape from the cell aboard the Waverider. I’m still a bit confused as to why the AI is answering to the former Captain. Perhaps she is still loyal to him and isn’t aware that he has gone to the dark side.

The part where Damien Darhk said “the King has left the building” made me chuckle. It’s both funny and ironic given that King Arthur is brainwashed and that Darhk was referencing Elvis. When Ray made Sir Galahad’s sword into a lightsaber (TM), a fusion of his Atom suit and the metal alloy of the sword, I was like: Why didn’t George Lucas think of that? I rolled my eyes when Damien shot Ray with a gun after losing his sword. Why didn’t he pull the gun on Ray in the first place? Yes, pulling the gun at the end shows that evil doesn’t play fair, but it could work just as well by using it right off the bat.

We also see a familiar face in this week’s episode. Star Girl is a member of the royal court as she has adopted the identity of Merlin. I suppose it’s fitting given that her staff makes her look wizard-like. It also appears that the former JSA member has found love. In the form of King Arthur, who is technically hands off because he’s the King and that he already has a Queen, Guinevere. I do applaud Sara kissing Guinevere towards the end though. Call it a reward for a job well done.
