Greta Van Susteren is one of the more respected journalists out there so when she has a message as direct as she did yesterday, I tend to listen. While she’s not the first, Van Susteren used her President’s Day show to speak directly to President Donald Trump. As many of you know he’s made the media public enemy number one. It appears that any media outlet that isn’t praising him is opposing him. The President has been making it a point to try and get the American people to believe that all of the media lies and that just about everything you read is fake news. The public isn’t buying and the media certainly isn’t either.
And to put it bluntly, Greta said, “Mr. President, back off,” after calling his ongoing feud with the media “out of control” and “dangerous.” She continued: “You have a powerful platform, but it is dead wrong to rev up your loyal base with incorrect, generalized and wide-sweeping inflammatory statements about the entire media. That does not advance a well-needed, robust debate. And it is not what the drafters of the First Amendment had in mind when they added ‘free speech’ and ‘free press’ to the Constitution.”
In recent days Shepard Smith, a conservative journalist for FOX news called out the President as did Chris Wallace. Amazingly these responses to the President aren’t just coming from the left, they are coming from everywhere. Here’s Greta below:
