Just a week ago, it was announced that Superman would be coming to Supergirl as the former CBS show now on CW was casting for the Man of Steel in the first two episodes of Season 2. The search has come to an end as it was announced today that Teen Wolf star Tyler Hoechlin has been cast as Clark Kent/Kal-El a.k.a. Superman on Supergirl. Andrew Kreisberg, show-runner and executive producer of both Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl, said this in a statement to the press about Hoechlin joining the DC TV Universe as the Last Son of Krypton.
“Greg and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman. We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”
In the previous statement, Warner Bros. TV revealed the following about Superman’s arrival on the series:
“The iconic character of Superman will first be seen visiting his cousin Kara in National City at the beginning of the series’ second season,”
Kriesberg had also said the following about the addition of Superman:
“Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl. Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!”
Supergirl has been renewed for a second season and will be moving to its new home on The CW starting in October on Monday nights at 8/7c.
