You are cordially invited to the wedding of doctors Amelia Shepherd and Owen Hunt. Every little girl dreams about her wedding day. The one thing they don’t dream about? Their sister-in-law telling anyone who will listen how doomed the marriage is. That’s the way Amelia ends up feeling on tonight’s season finale of Grey’s Anatomy. Owen and Amelia intend to say “I Do” on tonight’s episode, but will Amelia’s insecurities cause the festivities to come to a screeching halt?
Owen and Amelia have been in an on/off relationship for about 3 years now (including last season’s one year time jump). Only recently did they get to a place of stability, jumping in with both feet into their relationship. Almost as soon as they made this decision they began talking about what their future would look like together. Before you knew it, they were engaged! There’s some uncertainty as to whether or not this is actually the right time for a decision this big, or if this was a long time coming. Whatever the case, this day should just be about Owen and Amelia. Cue the meddling sister-in-law.
Meredith will always be Team Cristina, whether Cristina is with Owen or not. Cristina made Meredith promise to look after Owen before she left. However, look after does not mean interfere. Meredith may not be taking any direct action to stop Owen and Amelia’s wedding, but her words are having very strong repercussions on the couple. Meredith and Amelia have had a tense relationship since they lost Derek last year. They seemed to work past it for the most part, until last week when Meredith told Amelia she felt as if Amelia had invaded every aspect of her life. Does Amelia just have thin skin, or does Meredith need to back off?
