Ding-dong, the wicked witch formerly known as Camilla is dead. The good news is that the Lyons have reclaimed control of their company within the family. The bad news (or good, if you just love the Lyon family drama) is now they can get back to tearing each other apart over the rightful ownership of Empire. First they must deal with the secret Lucious has been keeping not only about his given name, but their family history which is sure to have huge consequences for some time to come.
Now that the family company is back under family control, there is a question as to whether or not Lucious will immediately make a play to reclaim his throne from son Hakeem. Before he can do that, Lucious has to deal with the repercussions of Jamal outing his secret that he was born under a different name. It isn’t the name change that is such a huge deal, it’s the reason behind it. The fact that his mother was bipolar and committed suicide is a secret Lucious kept buried for years. Given the repercussions for Andre since he himself has bipolar disorder like his grandmother, Jamal probably would not have revealed Lucious’s secret the way he did had he known the whole story. Not even Cookie knew the truth about her other half’s past, and now Lucious has to not only confront his past, but lay it bare to the world.
“The Tameness of a Wolf”-Family tensions rise as Lucious throws his energy into directing an emotional music video, which recreates a traumatic interaction with his mother. Meanwhile, Tiana and Laura unleash a vicious rivalry over the spotlight on the ‘Mirage a Trois’ tour, forcing Hakeem to mediate between the two divas.
