Are you a fan of The Good Wife and going through withdrawals since the drama series was not on again last night? Well, you are not the only one as we at TV Overmind were equally crushed that the show, which stars Julianna Margulies, will not be back until next week. With only six episodes left before the CBS drama says good-bye, we thought it would be a good idea to take a look back at the best recurring characters from the last seven years. Did your favorite make the list? Keep reading to find out. Even though Chris Noth is only credited on the episodes he appears, he is not included in our list.
5. Nancy Crozier (Mamie Gummer)
The first time we encountered Nancy Crozier on The Good Wife was halfway through season one. She was fresh out of law school and was trying to prosecute Alicia’s client. In order to get the judge to rule in her favor, Nancy would appear to be naive and not know what was going on during court. In total, Nancy has appeared in eight episodes, including the second episode of this season. By her final appearance, Alicia knew what she was in store for, and did not tolerate it.
4. Colin Sweeney (Dylan Baker)
Colin Sweeney was probably the most demented character to have appeared on The Good Wife during its seven season run. Colin has been accused of murdering several people, including his wife. Somehow he always managed to not get convicted, probably because he has Alicia Florrick as his lawyer. Even though Alicia defends him, it is clear she thinks he is guilty. He has appeared in eight episodes, the last being in season six. Baker has been nominated for three Emmy awards for playing Sweeney.
3. Louis Canning (Michael J. Fox)
We first met Louis Canning back in 2010 when the firm Alicia works at takes on a case for a pharmaceutical company. In total, Louis has appeared in 24 episodes. At times, Canning would be known to use his disease to get the judge to rule in his favor. Though he and Alicia would often butt heads, he asked her to join him in creating a firm at the end of season six. . Alicia turns him down and would end up starting a firm with Lucca Quinn. Michael J. Fox has been nominated for four Emmy Awards for his work on The Good Wife.
2. Marissa Gold (Sarah Steele)
One would think Eli Gold’s offspring would be as quick witted and outspoken as he is, so when The Good Wife fans were first introduced to Marissa Gold in 2011 they were not disappointed. In her first appearance, Marissa pays Eli a visit while he is trying to ruin Wendy Scott-Carr’s campaign. Marissa would go on to become Alicia’s assistant when she was running for State Attorney. In total, Marissa has popped up on 20 episodes of The Good Wife, including four episodes this season.
1. Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston)
The Good Wife fans have yet to see a character as eccentric or as fascinating as Elsbeth Tascioni. This type of personality may make it hard for some people to become well liked, but that has never really been the case for Elsbeth, She first appeared on The Good Wife towards the end of season one and has been on the series thirteen more times. She is often contacted by Alicia to assist with cases. Carrie Preston won an Emmy in 2013 for her work on the series.
