So this week’s Pretty Little Liars brought some type of closure for the girls, but set the stage up for more crap to hit the fan and more suspects to enter the fray. Plus, each of our Liars all reminisced about a certain day with Alison, where she showed all different sides of herself in one setting… a setting that I feel has more meaning to it than we are led to believe. Plus, we are introduced to two more young potential suitors for the girls who will make the female persuasion swoon, while giving me a headache from trying to keep up with them all.
Pretty Little Girls Always Have A Backup Boy For Rebounding Purposes Only
Aria still hasn’t gotten over Ezra’s Houdini trick, but Hanna has the perfect solution: another boy. But Noel isn’t just some kid off the block. He happens to be Aria’s first crush, who now suddenly digs her. Sean and Hanna want Aria to participate in a double date with them and Noel to score concert tickets. At first Aria declines, citing her familial issues as the reason, but after a flashback featuring Alison at the lakefront giving Aria a boost in trying out for Noel’s affections, Aria has a slight epiphany and texts Hanna to set up the date.
Over pizza and hanging out, Aria is not feeling the scenario, but later she grows to come to an understanding with Noel, even though it takes him to ask about “the boy from Iceland” to get her to warm to his charm. He says that despite the drama, he actually wanted to kiss her anyway, but decides to wait and keep his options open. I don’t think Aria has a problem with that. Crisis averted! Well, this one at least…
Pretty Little Girls Aren’t Daddy’s Little Girl Anymore…
Emily is having fun with Maya and the two even flirt in public a bit, which is a vast improvement of paranoid Emily from earlier in the game. To prove that she means business with this relationship, Emily asks Maya out on an official date, which Maya accepts. After this first shaky step, Emily finds out by a phone call from her mother that Mr. Fields will be returning home from Afghanistan. Awww….
Later as she’s getting ready for the date, Emily flashes back to that day at the lake with the girls as they watched Noel and his then girlfriend disappear into the woods. Alison says that the couple is going to the “Kissing Rock”, where you can hear the ghosts of past lovers pushing you to kiss your current girl or beau. While Emily shrugs off the story, Alison suggestively asks Emily who would she like to take there. Hmmm… Was that the beginning of ‘Emilson’?
Emily and Maya end up at the movies for their date and while watching the feature, the two girls talk about Mr. Fields returning home. Maya asks if she will be able to meet Emily’s dad, but Emily doesn’t answer and instead grabs Maya’s hand with affection. It isn’t long before the two girls are making out mighty tough in the back rows of the theater. What will Emily’s father think?!?!
Pretty Little Girls Know How To Recycle A Good Prada Bag To Make Ends Meet…
Hanna finds out from Ashley that their credit cards are cancelled and that times are about to get hard in the pocketbook sector. After talking to Lucas about yearbook pictures, Hanna is introduced to the world of eBay and it’s wonderful ways of turning old crap into a fortune. Hanna decides to sell some of her things, namely her designer bags, and asks Lucas to help in the process. This little task flashes Hanna back to that same day with Alison, where she watched as Alison bullied Lucas and told her to not let the past ‘gain up’ on her, insinuating Hanna’s weight problem.
Later, Lucas shows up at Hanna’s house with the money from her earnings on eBay, which brings a smile to her face and further gives Sean a reason to show his not so squeaky clean side, cause he’s not cool with Lucas and Hanna’s friendship.
Meanwhile, Byron stops by to drop off the money for Alison’s memorial, but Ashley initially thinks it is a pity offer. The two parents then discuss the hardships of divorce… and share awkward stares and blushes. Uh-oh…
Pretty Little Liars Know That To Truly Remember A Friend, You Must Protect Their Image Even Though They Impugned Yours…
As the girls prepare for Alison’s memorial, they receive an iron (?) bowl that will be displayed in the park in Alison’s name. After talking about Alison’s legacy and how she will be remembered forever, Spencer quotes a line Alison said on that day at the lake: “That’s immortality, darlings.” We flashback to the day this was uttered and Alison explains the pros of dying young and “leaving a pretty corpse.” Hmm…
The girls get a shock when their co-planner, Alison’s brother Jason, shows up all Ivy League and pretty much taking over their hard work on the memorial. After talking about how he’s disappointed in the police’s handling of Alison’s murder, Jason announces that Jenna will be speaking at the memorial as well. As the girls freak out about Jenna’s involvment, they pick Spencer to discover what the hell Jenna has up her sleeve and to nip it in the bud, because their secrets are at stake.
Spencer recollects later about the day at the lakefront when Alison pretty much trash talked Jenna to no end. After snapping to the present, she receives a message from “A” saying, “Do it right! I’ll be watching. Just like Tom Sawyer. – A”. Yikes.
Meanwhile, Hanna enters the Yearbook Staff room to find Det. Wilden, aka Captain Buzzkill. He starts berating Hanna about Jason’s frustrations with the police and threatens Hanna to keep her mouth shut when it comes to public and private affairs. Hanna reminds Wilden that she’s not the one blurring the lines between work and personal affairs, insinuating Wilden’s tryst with her mother. Get em’, Hanna!
Spencer goes to talk to Jenna about what she is planning to say at the memorial. After Jenna gives her “I got something on you” card of the week, Spencer warns Jenna to not use Alison’s memorial as a platform to avenge her vendetta against the girls, because the memorial is Alison’s and should be respected. Jenna then drops the bombshell that Alison told her that she was finished with Spencer and the girls while Jenna was in the hospital. Can we get a flashback of what went down in that hospital room?
Later, Spencer and Emily confront Jason about him bogarting the memorial and that the should respect their wishes, too. As they discuss this, Det. Wilden and some cops show up to break into Toby’s locker, which Jason thinks is just a front since he happens to be there. Not really fazed by Jason’s accusations, Wilden reveals that Toby called Alison on the night she disappeared, or at least someone who had Toby’s phone.
Spencer and Jason sit and make the final touches on the memorial and they discuss the mystery of Alison’s disappearance and Alison in general. After some chit chat, Spencer goes in for the kill and asks Jason who does he think killed Alison. He admits that he thinks Toby is a scapegoat for the moment and that it doesn’t matter since it will never bring Alison back. After Spencer balks at this and brings up getting justice, Jason reveals that he knows about the fire, but says that Alison told him that it was all SPENCER’S idea, which makes Jason think that Spencer is the last person to talk about justice. WOW!
After calling the girls together and Spencer tells them the deets, which pisses them off. They surmise that Alison pinned everything on Spencer, who was the only one who didn’t take Alison’s crap too much. The also realize that Alison did this in case something happened to her, then it would be easy to point the finger to the girls. If this is true, then Alison is one crafty girl!
But despite that ultimate betrayal, the girls still give nice words about Alison at the memorial, ranging from Alison’s views on friendship, dealing with tragedy, and her legacy. But Jenna gives her speech and comments on how Alison surprised her by revealing herself to be a good person. In the end, Jenna thanks Alison for being the strongest person she knew. Wow…
When the girls return home, Jason drops one last bombshell before he leaves. Said bombshell came in the form of the friendship bracelet like the ones Alison gave the girls. Apparently, the one they found in the woods is a fake, because the one Jason now holds was on Alison when her body was found. Shut. UP!!!!
After that spooky moment, the same dark dressed figure approaches Alison’s memorial, which is filled with candles and artwork, and begins to wreck havoc on it, totaling everything in site. Double wow…
So what do you guys think? Who is ‘A’? Is Jason there to cause more trouble and does he really believe that Spencer had something to do with Alison’s disappearance? Why did Melissa’s ex boyfriend Ian, show up at the memorial?
Too many questions, but so little time.
See you guys next week!
