It is hard not to fall in love with Tina Fey. After all, she is beautiful, smart, and extremely funny. From her incredible run on SNL to her amazing creation 30 Rock to now being a movie star and regular host of The Golden Globes with Amy Pohler, Fey is one of if not the most successful comedians today. If there’s one thing we can be sure of, it’s that Fey will be making us laugh for as long as she wants to. But what else do we know about her?
Here are 12 interesting facts you may not know about the SNL alum.
1. For starters, her name isn’t really Tina Fey. She was born Elizabeth Stamatina Fey. Her character on 30 Rock was also named Elizabeth.

2. Fey has a scar on her left cheek. She was attacked by stranger who slashed her face with a knife when she was only 5 years old. The incident took place in an alley close to her home. The attacker was never found. Fey briefly discusses what happened in her book Bossypants.

3. I am not the only one who finds Fey attractive. She ranked #80 on Maxim‘s “Hot 100 List” in 2002, and was voted one of People magazines “Most Beautiful People” from 2007-2009. In 2007, the LGBT community voted her #7 on the “Hot 100 List” featured on AfterEllen.com. The following year, she received the #1 spot.

4. Have you ever played the Medieval Madness pinball machine? If so, you may have thought some of the princesses’ voices sounded familiar. Those voices belong to Fey. The machines were released in 1997. A total of 4,016 were produced. It was announced earlier this year that machine will be reproduced in 2014.

5. Tina Fey taught Rajiv Surendra, the guy who played Kevin Gnapoor in Mean Girls, how to rap. Though she did have some help from buddy Amy Poehler. The video recently surfaced online. You can check it out on YouTube. However, it is not suitable to view at work.

6. In 1995, Fey made her TV acting debut. She starred in a commercial for Mutual Savings Bank. She booked the gig during her time as a Second City comedienne. If you can look past the bad hair and frumpy mom clothes, you can see the impeccable comedic timing that we watched in Mean Girls and Date Night.

7. After working behind the scenes at SNL for 3 years as a writer and later head writer, Fey decided to lose 30 pounds and start appearing on camera in 2000 opposite Jimmy Fallon on Weekend Update. Fey credits Weight Watchers for helping her go from a size 12 to as small as a size 4. Before 2000, she did make a few small cameos on the sketch show.

8. Fey tied with Eva Longoria for being the highest paid TV actress in 2011. They both raked in $13 million from May 2010 – May 2011. Part of her income for the year was by for being 30 Rock‘s head writer and producer. The show had also started appearing in syndication, which upped her salary.

9. While appearing on The Late Show with David Letterman, Fey revealed that she did not have relations until she was 24 to her future husband Jeff Richmond. The couple married in 2001 and have two daughters: Alice born September 10, 2005 and Penelope born August 10, 2011.

10. Fey is the youngest recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. She won the award in 2010 at the age of 40. Other recipients of the prize include Whoopi Goldberg, Bill Cosby, Steve Martin, Billy Crystal, Will Ferrell, and Ellen DeGeneres. Recipients of the prize are awarded a bronze portrait bust of Twain.

11. Fey is a 1992 graduate of the University of Virginia. The University was established in 1819 and designed by Thomas Jefferson. Fey studied play writing and acting and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama.

12. In 2000, Fey teamed up with close friend and SNL cast member Rachel Dratch in the Off-Broadway show Dratch & Fey. The production received critical praise. Dratch and Fey also wrote the sketches for “Sully and Denise.” Dratch played the role of Denise while Jimmy Fallon took the part of Sully.
