Recently, someone on Twitter uploaded a screenshot of a conversation between family members, and it immediately went viral. In this conversation, a man invites his whole family to a Thanksgiving dinner in the middle of a global pandemic. “Offer still stands if you guys want to come over for Thanksgiving. Would love to see you all,” he writes in his message. Apparently, his mother understands that such a dinner wouldn’t be a good idea, so she replies by saying this: “We should wait until next year.” The son still attempts to convince his mother to come. “But mom, what about your famous cranberry sauce?” he asks. And that was the moment when the mother decided to put some common sense into her son by saying this: “Good idea, Nathan. You can serve it at my funeral.”
The post immediately went viral and it currently has over 415k likes and over 40k retweets. Thousands of people were applauding this cool grandma for roasting her son in a such savage way.

In all seriousness, the grandma had a truly important point. We all should be responsible and think twice before organizing family gatherings in the middle of a literal global pandemic and risking people’s health. Instead, we can always use our imagination and think outside the box.

For instance, this one Texas couple decided to surprise their grandkids with life-size cardboard cutouts of themselves. “We decided that we didn’t want to risk getting sick,” Missy told TODAY Parents. “Then I started thinking, ‘How can I still make it fun?'”
Turns out, the kids were super excited to be able to have their grandparents at their house at this time of the year. “Grandparents can lead the way on this. We can show others how you can be safe and still celebrate,” Missy explained to TODAY Parents. “I think they’re having more fun with the cutouts than they would have had we been there in person!”
