In late 2015 I started teaching myself photography by watching YouTube videos and just going out and practising and experimenting.
I don’t really consider myself a photographer, I’ve always been artistic and saw photography as more of an art form. So I try to refrain from taking the typical ‘look at the camera and smile’ portraits, instead, I think of it more like a painting. I think about composition and how to tell a story, and I’ve found candid photos do that the best.
Here are 6 photos that show my progress so far. All of the ‘then’ photos were taken in late 2015 and the ‘now’ photos were taken in the middle to later 2016.
