5 Things You Didn’t Know About Ann Weying

With Marvel Comics being so active during the last decade, and especially during the last five years, it stands to reason that comic book fans, and film action fans alike are asking questions as more and more of the comic book characters are brought to life for live action films. One super hero that has a remarkable and ever expanding background is The Amazing Spiderman. There are so many villains and nemesis that Spiderman had to engage. One character that more and more people are becoming intrigued with is She-Venom and her alter-ego, Anny Weying.

Since her name is beginning to pop up, people are wanting to know about who she is, so we decided to share five facts about Ann Weying that you didn’t know.

1. She Was Married to Eddie Brock

While the clearest understanding of Ann Weying is that she is single by way of divorce, when she enters the story, she is married to Eddie Brock. However, her relationship to Eddie Brock is that of an enemy represented by active aggression. Ann is actually a friend of one of Eddie’s enemies and she has worked with Spiderman to help stop Eddie on one of his vendettas. In fact, it was Ann who followed Eddie while he was being pursued by Spiderman and convinced him to give up.

2. She Was Transformed Into She-Venom After Being Shot

Many Spiderman fans are confused as to how Ann became she-venom, something that she has actually found difficult to live with. It all was the result of Ann being shot by Sin-Eater – leaving her fighting for her life. In order to save her, the alien symbiote bonded with her temporarily. It was during this time that Ann used her new physical being to attack those who were aggressive towards her, something she would later regret.

3. She Returned to Herself When Eddie Compelled the Symbiote Back to Him

Eddie actually observed what bonding with the symbiote had done to Ann and he compelled the alien to once again bond with him and leave Ann. Once Ann had observed the wake of her spree, she could not stomach it – screaming with terror and self-hatred. She blamed the alien, but Eddie reminded her that the alien could not force her to do or be something that was not already inside of her. Basically, she had to swallow the fact that she had done all of that because deep down inside, she wanted to.

4. Her Bonding with the Symbiote Gave Her New Physiological Traits

While bonding with the alien symbiote triggered the internal aggression in Ann, that was not the only thing that made her deadly rampage possible. While she had bonded with the symbiote, she took on many of its physical features and strengths, such as claws, fangs and an elongated jaw – all of which were used to attack and destroy her enemies. Once the bonded was over, she regained her normal demeanor and her normal human physical characteristics.

5. She Committed Suicide

One of Marvel’s strengths has been its willingness to address normal human issues that people face in real life, which many comic strip companies tend to back away from. The manner in which Ann met her end is just one more instance in which Marvel to the comic story to the dark side. While the killing in the story is gruesome and dark, self-harm and suicide is a taboo subject and people are really sensitive about it, but Marvel takes the topic head on.
