Backyard Envy is the kind of show you might watch if you’re truly into redesigning every aspect of your backyard and have no limit to what you’re willing to spend on it. In truth this Bravo-based show is kind of ridiculous after a fashion but it does serve a purpose and the crew is very good at what they do based on the results. As a business it seems like something that could be minimized after a while to cut back on expenses but all in all it does offer up a few interesting ideas on how a person could go about shaping their backyard and what tips might be useful in creating an escape from the home that’s not that far away. There are people that would no doubt think this show is worth watching and that’s why it’s one of those that might stick around for a while, especially considering that they seem willing to adapt to new challenges.
Here are a few things you might not have known about the show.
10. The crew started out in the city and moved to the suburbs as they expanded their business.
Living in the city it’s kind of hard to find a place with what might be called a traditional backyard, but a lot of people have spaces that they use as such and decorate in ways that bring them a sense of peace or tranquility. The crew focus on what they believe will accentuate the yard space and then work from there with what the client wants. It’s easy to assume that an actual yard with grass and other vegetation would be easier to work with, but they’ve created marvels with just about anything and everything they’ve found.
9. It’s a home show that focuses only on the backyard.
This is obvious of course but some home shows do in fact work on different aspects of the home despite their main focus. This show is only about the backyard and nothing else, taking the focus towards building up a space that will allow people to enjoy themselves and relax when they feel the need.
8. There’s a lot of built-up drama that gets played up for TV.
This is bound to happen on any show since it does manage to get ratings and people love to see drama. The more difficult the job might seem and the more tension there is between the cast members the better it is for the producers.
7. It’s hard to know if the crew really operates as they’re shown on the program.
Every crew is going to run into problems from time to time but it’s difficult to know how much of it is real on TV since reality TV is about the most unreal thing around aside from sitcoms. This means that arguments and spats could be made for TV or could in fact be real.
6. The name of the company is Manscapers.
There are a lot of different names that are either worse or better than this one but in truth it does sound like it belongs to another industry. That’s one opinion though and it would seem that they do a lot of business year-round.
5. They cater to a wide array of clients.
It’s very fair to say that they’re a niche business that people have to look up and actually want to go with, but they can afford to do this since a lot of their clients seem to be those that can afford the high prices they charge.
4. Some of the backyards start in the tens of thousands and only go up.
Quite honestly taking care of your backyard on your own is a great deal cheaper but there are still a lot of expenses to be considered since materials are not cheap and the labor that goes into this kind of work isn’t cheap either. But then you tack on the fact that you’re paying for the actors and the show and it seems as though it might get a little out of control. DIY is usually better for those that can’t afford a spot on this show, as they cater to those that can afford to pay.
3. They sell a few of their own products throughout the year.
They are still a company all on their own without the show, and it’s easy to see how they would need to develop their own products in order to stay competitive with anyone else that might do the same thing they do.
2. They also seem willing to deal with other issues that don’t concern back yards.
This is something that they’ve only touched on so far since the show thrives primarily on backyard issues. But body issues seems to be an interest of the male cast members as they want to raise awareness.
1. It’s not recommended to apply for this show if you can’t afford it or don’t want to be judged on your taste in decor.
If ten to twenty grand isn’t a problem for you and you have a backyard you want renovated it might be for you, but otherwise DIY is still the way to go.
It’s worth watching at least once.
