Despite not having much acting experience, Alex’s talent has already been widely recognized by fans and peers. He has been nominated for over a dozen awards and has taken home a few wins. Some of his awards include a Gold Derby for his role in Moonlight.

Many of the stars of The Chi are originally from Chicago or have lived there for a reasonable amount of time. That isn’t the case for Alex, though. He is originally from New York City but relocated to Miami when he was younger. From what we know, he still lives in the Miami area.
10. Moonlight Was His First Audition
In most cases, an actor has to go on countless auditions before they get cast in something. Luckily for Alex, that isn’t how his journey went. Not only was Moonlight his first acting role, but it was also the first project he auditioned for.
