Video Captures What It’s Like at Every Video Game Store Ever

This video definitely captures what it’s like at every video game store, EVER. Gamers and casual gaming fans still use video game stores believe it or not, but it’s getting to be a rarity. Only about a decade ago video game stores were the hottest place to be when a new game came out. Now that everything is able to downloaded online and done from home the trip to the game store is becoming kind of unnecessary. Plus with services like GameFly and others it’s kind of pointless to go in when you can rent the game and then decide if you want to buy it later on. And then there’s Amazon, and eBay, and the various websites of certain stores. Wow, does anyone even walk into the game store any more?

Yeah, it still happens on occasion but the chances of getting record numbers of individuals in a game store are going down steadily with each passing year since there’re really nothing in there that people can’t get online. It might be hurting the game stores but it’s certainly not hurting the gaming industry since it’s more like cutting out the middle man. Without the game stores taking part of the profit the game designers can see more bang for their buck when it comes to selling titles online in various ways. People can get their games faster and gamers can master their favorite titles that much quicker. The game stores are really the only ones that suffer.

I kind of wish I could say that I feel sorry for those employees that work in the game stores but to be honest this video is pretty accurate. Either they’re serious techno-nerds that know way too much about the systems you want to play on and make you feel like a noob no matter how long you’ve been playing, or they stick to the systems that they like and couldn’t tell you a single thing about what you need to know. Plus by the time you get to the gaming store a lot of the titles that you want might already be reserved, sold out, or otherwise unavailable. Plus another thing about those gaming stores is that the typical crew that works them is only about two or three people strong on any given day, and of that number you might be able to get the attention of one of them if you’re lucky and they’re not dealing with a customer that has some insane demand or just wants to sit their jawing about a gaming experience.

At this point you might be better off going to a gaming store if you’re looking for a vintage title that doesn’t appear online, but it would still be a crapshoot since you wouldn’t know whether or not the store actually has it. Game stores are as of now going the way of the video stores since online has pretty much taken away the need to get up and go out any longer when everything can be downloaded or bought over the internet. Don’t worry though, there might be a few of them left.
