Boy those Baldwin brothers love to get rowdy don’t they? This time on the Yelling Game we’ve got Stephen Baldwin cracking us up as he goes into his tough guy mode while attempting to be big and bad. If it doesn’t work on you don’t be too surprised, the guy just seems like he’s a harmless party animal that might be able to get aggressive but honestly just wants to have a good time. In most of his movies he has the same intense look that almost seems like he’s about to go cross-eyed. Somehow he just comes off as way too serious for his own good though, unless he happens to be in a comedy, and then that attitude tends to be kind of funny to watch. He’s done horrible movies and, well, decent films with decent costars but he’s never really broke into anything lasting or bound to become an epic in this century.
He’s still kind of fun to watch though.
5. Fred Claus
Imagine sitting down to a support group and hearing someone say that his brother was Santa Claus. Would you be offended or simply baffled why someone would bother making something like that up? Obviously Fred isn’t making it up, but no one in the group knows that since by the time we’re adults we’ve all got it pretty well figured out and Santa is just something for kids. How sad.
4. Half Baked
That last little “Hurry up” is something that seems like a yell for a lot of stoners. Having been around enough of them in my life, long story, this tends to be the height of yelling for a lot of them even if it might seem like a lame attempt at getting someone to move a little faster. It’s not a traditional yell but it’s definitely something that just barely qualifies since it’s said in urgency.
3. Posse
Seeing Stephen Baldwin as a desperado or even a drunken cowboy seems like a stretch but for the sake of the movie it works. At the very least he’s surrounded by others that don’t really fit the cowboy mold like Mario Van Peebles and Tone Loc. His character comes to a bad end but at least throughout the film he’s one of the funnier characters that signed up for this less than revered film.
2. The Usual Suspects
He’s just nuts in this one. He plays the outwardly calm, cool, and composed psycho that can go nuts at a moment’s notice and is perhaps under the impression that he’s the most dangerous one in the bunch. That’s kind of amusing since the whole notion of who the big bad really is in this film is kept so well under wraps that by the end people were actually having to rewind the film and watch it again.
1. BioDome
So yes, this is being dumb for the sake of being dumb, but it had a lot of funny moments. As Doyle he’s about one of the brainless men on the planet. Pauly Shore’s character was smarter than him if you really need a comparison. But it’s still pretty funny.
How much do you want to bet that eventually we’ll see all the Baldwin’s join the Yelling Game?
