Young and the Restless fans know that there is a lot of tension around the fact that Adam Newman is alive and well as it pertains to casting. Justin Hartley was the most recent Adam, but he’s got some other jobs he’s working on and no plans to return. Michael Muhney wants to come back badly, but writers haven’t done much to reach out to him. In fact, fans were convinced he was going to come back and take over the role again after several years of being away from the show, but it turns out that he has some bigger issues to work out right now. He’s not being rehired, and we can confirm this. Michael Muhney will not return as Adam Newman.
Muhney doesn’t have a lot of pull with the show. It turns out there is more than a little drama with the show and the actor, and they don’t want him back. Almost 90% of the fans of the show want Adam back, and Muhney is working hard to get the role, but he hasn’t and will not get it. The show doesn’t want him back as Adam Newman, and that is evidenced by them getting rid of him, hiring Justin Hartley to take the role, and then not bringing him back when Hartley left the show. Hartley won’t be back either. He’s now a huge primetime success with “This is Us” and he’s not going to leave that show, which was just renewed for at least two more seasons, to return to the daytime television world.
But what will happen now? Muhney has been pushing fans to ask for him back. He’s been tweeting them, telling them to find him a job by writing to the writers and producers, but it’s been confirmed they don’t want him back. Unfortunately for Muhney, the role will not be his when Adam is brought back from the dead. It’s been recast, and a new actor will come in and take over the role of the young man so brutally betrayed by his father.
