Abby Newman is a questionable person in Genoa City. She’s spent most of her life not fitting in around here, and she’s been a mess about it. She’s not really made many good friends. She’s had a mother and a father who didn’t get along most of her life. Her two families are very much at odds with one another more than they are not, and she has a stepmother who is not that much a fan of hers. She’s also been a little lost. She’s the baby, and she is always thought of last and after everyone else. She’s got a lot of issues to work on, and she is rarely in a good place with herself. She feels as if her life is never going to end up well, and she’s going to have to do something that will make things right in her life. But, she’s someone who is also very much defined by the men she dates, and she lets that happen despite what she knows to be better of herself. These are the men we feel had the most impact on how she lives her life today.
Arturo
He’s not someone she is proud of being with, but mostly because her father was right about him. He told her that Arturo was not good enough for her, and he was not. He was at first, in her mind, but then he began letting little things out. Like the time he wasn’t speaking to his brother, Rey, because Arturo slept with Rey’s wife in their old town. And that was a red flag. When the wife showed back up and started spending more and more time around Arturo, Abby was not happy about it. She suspected that she wanted more from him, and she was not wrong. He ended up getting her pregnant — maybe — but it didn’t matter since they did sleep together. That ended, and it showed her that sometimes, your dad is right.
Ben
She married him, but it changed her. She might have had the chance to be in love with him, but she was never fully in love with him. In fact, she was never really in love with anything about him other than the fact that she wanted a family and to grow up a bit. He had a son, but unfortunately, their wedding day was ruined with his son and his mother were on their way to the wedding and the mother was killed in an accident. The son was badly hurt, and things turned from there for Abby. It never got better for them, and they never had a real chance to find happiness. They never had an option as they were thrown into full-time parenting on the day of their wedding, parenting a little boy who lost his mother, whose world changed, and it was too much for Abby to handle at her very young age at the time. We thought it might change her, and we think it did.
Daniel
We think that above and beyond all else, she might have been impacted most by this one. For one, he is a man who was not all that nice to her. He actually slapped her right across the face after calling her a brat — and we thought the term was actually quite fitting for her at the time. She was a brat, and he was not wrong. However, she decided to use that to her advantage, and she took advantage of this man and what he had to offer her by then flirting with him and throwing herself at him. She made it so irresistible to him that she ended up throwing herself right into his arms and they had sex, which she filmed. She then released that film because she wanted to start a television show and she needed funding, and all good stars of reality television have a sex tape. He didn’t know she filmed it, and it was horrible. She was very young, very naïve, and she was definitely not someone that we thought would ever do that. She’s grown since then, but we think she uses this as a reminder of just how much she has grown.
