Young and the Restless fans are seeing actors and actresses drop like flies around here. There are some nasty rumors about what is going on with the behind-the-scenes stuff, and there are some nasty rumors about so much more than that, too. And we just don’t know how to make things work. Every time we turn around, someone else is leaving or a new face is showing up, and then leaving. People seem to be very interesting around here, and some of them are just not as interesting as others. We are sad for some of the characters who remain because they have become so boring, so unflattering, and so much of the same thing on repeat. Want to know who we find boring these days?
Abby
We just can’t handle how much she lives the same life all the time. Her entire existence on this show has been her being treated unfairly by her father and siblings, choosing the wrong man, and basically ruining her own life over and over again. We are so tired of things that will not work out for her, and we are always tired of watching her allegiance shift depending on who she is spending her time with. She’s a woman who has a lot to offer, but she is also one who has a lot more to deal with than she might imagine. She has a lot of potential, and we are always astounded how little of that anyone bothers with. She’s constantly made to play a woman who has more issues than not. She’s got too much on her mind to deal with in many situations, and they really don’t do well for her in any situation. She’s a woman who we would like to see make bigger changes, have a better situation, and eventually turn herself over into a major player — but we aren’t sure they’ll let her.
Nick
We don’t want to sound whiny or anything, but he’s boring us. He’s not doing anything worth talking about — ever — and yet here he is involved in all the situations all the time. He’s got more to offer than most, but he doesn’t bring any of that to the table with anything other than his own personal agenda. We’d love to see him bring some power, some drama, and some serious excitement to the table, but he won’t do it. He will not make it his mission in life to do anything other than sit back and allow his friends, his family, and everyone else to take him for all he’s worth. We are certain that he has more to offer than we are assuming he does, but we also know he will never have a chance to show us that he is not just the man who hates his family but does anything they ask him to do all the time. He has to grow up and move on and stop coming back for more of them and their drama.
Cane
Promise to do better and love his wife and be the man he was always meant to be. Fail to do any of the above. Cheat, lie, coverup, get caught, beg for forgiveness, get forgiveness, repeat. It’s what he does, and he’s gotten quite good at it. He is a man who has not done much other than make a mess of his life time and time again, and no one can figure out why we are bored with him. He is never going to change, and that frustrates us in so many ways. He is a man who could do so much, but he constantly chooses to do nothing more than sit back and watch as the world unfolds itself around him. He never means it. He never intended to. He always does. It’s his repeating cycle, and it’s so boring to us. We’d love to see him make a positive choice and do something good, but he won’t do it. And Lily — if she comes back — will do something like forgive him to the point that he ends up doing this all again. It’s his cycle, and he will never learn as a result.
