Whatever Happened to the Cast of “Single White Female?”

A lot of movies cover obsession but Single White Female is one of those that takes it to a level that makes you stand up and take notice since it goes beyond the realm of what might be considered unhealthy. When Hedy answers the ad that Allie puts out for a new roommate she comes with more than just the bags and boxes that hold her stuff, she comes with a head filled with trauma and craziness that soon starts to unload on Allie in ways that no one should ever have to go through as the movie continues to roll steadily downhill as the madness continues. Hedy goes so far as to attack Allie’s neighbor, her boss, and then she goes the distance and kills Allie’s boyfriend after seducing him. That is a seriously messed up mind, but it doesn’t end there of course as she goes after Allie next. The only thing worse than a crazy roommate is having to deal with them, and then wondering what you could have done differently.

Here’s what happened to the cast.

Stephen Tobolowsky – Mitch Myerson

Stephen is the kind of guy that can play the lovable but kind of nerdy friend or good guy or the bad guy that you want to see stomped into the pavement simply for the heck of it because he’s somehow just that arrogant or sure of himself. The actor is someone that’s great since he’s so versatile and it shows if you look at his resume. He’s been so incredibly busy that it’s a wonder that he’s had anything of a life outside his work. The dedication this guy puts in is amazing and he’s still doing it as the years continue to roll on. Some of his most notable films have been Wild Hogs, Memento, and even Groundhog Day.

Peter Friedman – Graham Knox

Peter has a pretty good resume to fall back on with enough accomplishments to call himself a success, but it seems as though he hasn’t done a whole lot in recent years when it comes to film and TV. Whether this is a personal decision or something necessary isn’t really clear but it’s evident that he hasn’t been on the scene for a while save to make guest appearances and perhaps a few cameos here and there.

Steven Weber – Sam Rawson

You probably remember Steven from the TV show Wings and even from the TV remake of The Shining. Well the truth is he’s been around for quite a while and he’s been active for that entire time. It might be that he’s stuck to TV and lesser-known movies but his career has still been moving forward since he’s continued to grab up roles here and there as he sees fit. He even managed to land a role in the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why and in another series titled Mom. So he’s been around, he’s just been tough to spot if you don’t watch certain show.

Jennifer Jason Leigh – Hedy Carlson

Jennifer was featured in the adaptation of Stephen King’s story Dolores Claiborne not long after being in Single White Female, and her career kept going strong after that. She’s been seen in so many movies at this point that it’s hard not to remember what she’s been in. She showed up in 2015 for one of Quentin Tarantino’s movies, The Hateful Eight, and then came around again for the film Annihilation. At this point she’s got two films that are in post-production so it’s fair to say that her career has been going pretty steady and doesn’t show a lot of signs of slowing down.

Bridget Fonda – Allie Jones

Bridget Fonda had kind of a spotty career leading up to her retirement as she would come on strong and then fade away for a little bit before coming on again. Her appearances went from being the lead to taking on cameos and guest star roles and supporting actor positions. One of her movies, Kiss of the Dragon, which was also one of her last roles, was something kind of interesting but at the same time kind of telling. She’d lost a lot of the verve that she’d had early on and wasn’t quite the same dynamic actress that she’d been for so many years. Eventually she retired in 2002 and hasn’t been seen on film since. It’s kind a shame really since she was such a great actress and had a lot of potential, but then it’s better to respect a person’s decision and not hound them into coming back.

The movie itself was quite intense and more than a little creepy but it did offer a great deal of entertainment. All but a couple of the cast members seem to be doing pretty good at his point and as to the two, well, sometimes people decide to get out and that’s that.
