What is Jack Ryan Season 3 Going to Be About?

Jack Ryan Season 2

At this point it’s hard to say with any definitive voice just what Jack Ryan season 3 is going to be about, but it’s kind of fair to assume that since there have been such big revelations in the first two seasons that it will be something that either continues that story line or ramps it up to another level since the character almost demands conflict after what’s been seen thus far in his long and storied history. When you realize that greats like Harrison Ford, Chris Pine, and Ben Affleck have all had a turn at playing Jack Ryan, it almost seemed that John Krasinski had a heavy amount of expectation heaped upon his shoulders from the get. Thankfully he’s been able to carry the load as the executive producer and leading man thus far and has left fans wanting more. The only trouble now is that, as John Orquiola of ScreenRant has stated, we might not be seeing him until 2021 considering the length of time that came between seasons 1 and 2. Not much is known at this point about Ryan’s future, but it does seem fair enough to assume that the series is going to keep delivering one shattering revelation after another since quite honestly people have come to expect a great deal from the series.

What’s very easy to see is that the character could be sticking around for a while if Amazon has anything to say about it, and if Krasinski is dedicated to keeping him around. As characters go he’s one of the more realistic and enjoyable of the bunch and he does allow a lot of people to relate during his various adventures. The continuity of the character hasn’t been kept solid from one version to another but for the most part he’s been the same guy that’s been drawn into the various conflicts he’s experienced and has come through by the end, sometimes battered and beaten but still alive. It’s kind of debate among the truly knowledgeable fans as to just who has played this character the best, but a lot seem to think that Harrison Ford did one of the best jobs, and that’s hard to argue. Thankfully Jack Ryan is a versatile character that can be played by multiple people and still be just as effective. Chris Pine didn’t seem to get a lot of recognition for his contribution but seeing as how he’s a very skilled actor it’s fair to say that he did a pretty good job. Krasinski though has been tearing it up as Ryan throughout the first two seasons and simply hearing that there’s going to be a third has been enough to perk some people up. Bill Keveney of USA Today has ranked the best to the worst Jack Ryan candidates if you want to take a look.

At this time it sounds as though at least a couple of the current cast members might be contemplating not coming back to changes in their character arcs, but like the plot details we’ll have to wait and see just what happens between now and then. A lot of things can change in a year after all, and it doesn’t take much for a season to switch things up and head off in a direction that no one saw coming. Given that Krasinski has such a great amount of sway over the creative process of the show however it does seem as though things might be kept on an even keel and headed in the same direction as fans have already seen. That would be a great up since reviews for this show have thus far been decent to good, which would indicate that the fans are appeased and the critics are at least willing to admit that the show has a good deal of worth. If there’s anything that can spell trouble for a series or a movie it’s the critics whose voices are for some reason listened to in lieu of the audiences’ better judgment. Thankfully a lot of people agree at this time that Jack Ryan is one of the best shows out there and that it’s worth sitting down to binge-watch if a person needs to before the third season starts shooting.

Given that the time frame is so far out at this point it would seem that even the writers and cast don’t know what’s going to come in season 3, which wouldn’t be too hard to believe. With the realization that actors do tend to lie and prevaricate at times though it’s also likely that Krasinski might have some idea of what he wants to do but isn’t about to tell anything. With all the leaks that currently exist on the internet and the possibility that rumor and gossip will take one idea and spin it beyond belief it’s simple to believe that those in charge will want to keep all their ideas as close to the vest as possible for some time to come.
