There is a new series coming our way. “Good Omens” is an adaptation of the Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett book by the same name. There is a lot of buzz about the new series and it has the earmarks of being a successful project for Amazon. The setting will take place in 2018 and the world will be teetering on the edge of an apocalyptic event. All of mankind will be in the process of making preparation for the final judgment.
There are two supernatural beings who are not fans of the world ending. One from each side of the fence. Crowley is a demon and Aziraphale is an angel and they are both in search of the Antichrist, but are having no luck in finding him. The overriding end of the world theme will give the show an air of drama. It’s a limited series and we’re not certain if it will leave any openings for spin offs or sequels. They’re not yet releasing many details other than the basics of cast, plot and duration. Each of the six installments which are planned will be an hour in duration.
Cast, crew and filming
David Tennant will play the part of the demon Crowley. Michael Sheen is the character Aziraphale, who is an angel. The show will entail the airing of six episodes that are an hour each in length. Sheen had some experience with the story prior to being cast for the show. He read the book when he was in his teenage years and it quickly became a favorite. He is truly excited about the opportunity to bring the tale to life on screen and share it with the public.
Tennant, who is known for his role as Kilgrave in Jessica Jones and other roles, is also excited about the dramatic series. The book was translated into English from the German language. This was the first novel that Gaiman had written. The co-author of the book passed away in 2015. Gaiman stands as the showrunner and he has also adapted each of the six episodes for the series. He plans to be heavily involved in the creation of the show.
Amazon Prime Video has exclusive rights to the series “Good Omens.”
It will launch the series which is also scheduled for broadcast in the U.K. on BBC. BBC Worldwide is the owner of second-run rights internationally. The executive producers for the show are Chris Sussman along with Gaiman, with collaboration for BBC Studios and the Narrativia production company. The owner of Narrativia is Pratchett’s daughter Rhianna, along with the Blank Corporation.
Multiple entities have come together for the creation of the series which is a good indication that it holds a high potential for being a success. There has not been an announcement of precisely when the series will air. For American viewers, it looks like the only way they will be able to access the show will be through Amazon Prime Video.

I never knew Sir Terry wrote his books in German – or Neil Gaiman for that matter.
I believe David Tennant may be better known internationally for his roles rather than Kilgrave e.g. his roles in Dr Who, Harry Potter, etc
