If you’v e never watched The Empire Strikes Back and need to know how to take down an AT-AT this video will give you at least a couple of pointers on how to do it. First of all dress up like a rebel pilot. Then you’ll want to grab yourself a long section of rope, cord, or whatever you can find that will work. After that go sailing around the AT-AT’s legs hoping like heck that another one isn’t right behind it waiting to use you for target practice. If all goes well you can eventually cut the cable after making a few passes and the AT-AT will try to continue forward only to find that it’s progress is hampered by the cord you just unerringly wrapped around its legs. Crash, Ka-boom, one less weapon in the Empire’s arsenal.
This tutorial was pretty fun to watch, I can only hope that it was just as much fun to make considering that it might have taken a little bit of skill to ride a unicycle while playing the theme song on a set of bagpipes no less. I’d like to know how they made the pipes flame like that since the effect was pretty cool. It’s also fun to note the “keep Portland weird” in the background since the Rose City is a fairly weird place and they’re proud of it. And why not? It might not be the mecca of entertainment like some other places around the country but it’s definitely got its own charm and knows how to show it.
Thinking about the AT-AT’s that are in The Last Jedi I can’t help but wonder if the First Order has given though to what happened to the giant walkers on Hoth and made sure that such a weakness can’t be exploited any longer. Just from looking at them the machines appear a bit different and less prone to the type of attack that took them out the last time. The one thing about the AT-AT’s is that they’re giant walking tanks that are supposed to be able to go over just about any terrain that isn’t too extreme for their range of movement. They’re basically giant death machines that can vaporize any resistance without much trouble, and the new ones look like they can withstand a lot of punishment.
I get the feeling that the new walkers won’t be taken out so easily and that the First Order will have managed to shore up any serious flaws in the designs and the battle tactics before this coming film. Otherwise we’d be watching the same type of battle once again with an outcome that might already be decided. That’s not going to happen and I have a lot of confidence in saying this since to keep this epic rolling full steam ahead it’s going to be necessary to do something new and keep the fans wanting more as they continue watch.
I know I’ll be there. And now I know how to take down those pesky AT-AT’s.
