Five Television Shows that Everyone From Boston Loves

Five Television Shows that Everyone From Boston Loves

Boston is one of the nation’s oldest cities and one of the most important to the history of America. For a long time there’s been a lot of misconceptions about Boston and the fierce dedication of the people that live there to the ideals by which they live and the manner of entertainment. The one thing that you don’t ever do in Boston however is question what they enjoy and why it’s anything other than the best thing around.  You don’t do it with their sports teams, and you certainly don’t do it with their TV shows. While not all of them are winners, I’ll say that from a respectable distance mind you, some of them have been well-noted successes while they were running and proved that they were worth the effort.

Here are some shows you might find are particularly liked in Boston.

5. Boston Common

I can remember watching this show and cracking up within a couple of minutes since it was so hilarious. A big brother is dropping his younger sister off at college and for some reason or another decides to stay. One main reason is that he finds the woman he thinks is the love of his life, the other swiftly becomes the need to protect his sister from what he feels are the iniquities of college life. As you can imagine this makes her life a little more complicated.

4. Rizzoli & Isles

Fans of NCIS might have appreciated the return of Sasha Alexander to the small screen in this one after her unfortunate death on her former show. Here she plays yet another character that is the opposite of the straight-laced and slightly overbearing figure of Rizzoli, though she gets to cut loose just a little more and be the fun individual rather than the by-the-book figure she was on NCIS.

3. Boston Public

This beloved show was all about life within the school system and what went on from day to day depending on whose story arc was being followed. The show was well-liked by a lot of people but for one reason or another was pushed back to a time slot that was entirely undesirable and as a result suffered as fans quickly lost touch with it. Eventually it had to be canceled since audiences were no longer interested.

2. Boston Legal

This show was a kind of dramatic comedy that focused loosely on the law at many points and often was seemingly created to resuscitate the careers of those stars such William Shatner, James Spader, John Larroquette, and even Candace Bergen. It was a popular show during its run but like all things had to eventually face the music and go on its way when audience numbers declined.

1. Cheers

By far and large this was one of the most popular shows to ever air on TV, and the numbers didn’t lie. Eventually the show had to reach a close, but thankfully it didn’t come down to being canceled. People loved this show so much that some even had parties to commemorate the final episode, as this was a hallmark of American culture at one point. To this day I think a lot of people still miss Cheers.
