Tracy Ifeachor is a British actress that is best known for her role in The Originals. Her most recent role is Tara Coleman in the USA Network show Treadstone. Here are ten things about her that you may not know.
1. She Was Born In Plymouth
Ifeachor was born in the British seaside city of Plymouth, famous for being the port that the Mayflower set sail from on the journey to the New World. Her family are of Nigerian origin and she is very proud of her heritage. Her father is a Professor of Electronic Engineering and he is very well respected in his field. She credits him with teaching her the value of hard work and this is something that has served her well throughout her career.
2. Father’s recommendation on Education
When she wanted to go to acting school at 16 years old, her father said she should finish school first and was worried about her moving away from home at such a young age, but he never tried to talk her out of her dreams. She took a gap year after high school to audition for drama schools and ended up getting a scholarship to the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
3. Her First TV Role Was In The Long-Running British TV Show Casualty
Her first role on British TV was on the medical drama Casualty. This is one of the countries longest running TV shows and many other actors have starred in this show early on in their careers. Other actors that have made one of their first TV appearances in Casualty include Kate Winslet and Orlando Bloom. This was her first TV role but it was not long before she started gaining other roles.
4. She Has Worked With The Royal Shakespeare Company
She started her career working in theater and some of this work was with the Royal Shakespeare Company. She made her theater debut as Minerva in their production of Noughts & Crosses. She also starred as Rosalind in As You Like It at the Curve Theatre in Leicester. She was nominated for an Ian Charleson award for her performance in “As You Like It” while rehearsing for “Welcome to Thebes” at the Royal national Theater with director Sir Richard Eyre
5. She Starred Alongside David Tennant In His Last Two Doctor Who Episodes
She played one of the main characters in the two part season finale which were the last two episodes that David Tennant appeared in. She starred alongside David Harewood as his daughter Abigail Naismith. This was only her second TV role and she was able to learn a lot from the more experienced actors on the show.
6. Her Role In Crossbones
She had her first role as a series regular on the show Crossbones, which was based around the life of the pirate Blackbeard. It was not long after this that she got her part on The Originals, and this is one of the roles for which she is best known.
7. She Has Played A CIA Operative On Two Different Shows
In the penultimate episode of Treadstone it is revealed that Tara Coleman is a Cicada operative and ultimately in the employment of the CIA. This is not the first time that she has played a character that has been involved with the CIA. She had a recurring role in the second season of Quantico which saw some of the FBI agents from the first season, teaming up with the CIA. She did not appear in the final season of the show but she was mentioned by name in episode ten when it was revealed that her character had been killed.

Fans of her new show Treadstone get to see a lot of what happens behind the scenes by following Ifeachor on Twitter. She shares a lot of photos from the time that the cast and crew spend on location. Filming for Treadstone takes place all over the world and so there are a lot of interesting photos that she has to share. Treadstone is a little different to other shows that don’t always film in the locations that they are supposed to be.
9. She Likes To Travel and Give Back In Her Spare Time
When she is not working, she likes to travel and has visited many countries all over the world. She currently spends most of her time between New York and England where her family still resides. She makes time in her busy schedule to give back wherever she is. She enjoys mentoring young adults in England and volunteering at a soup kitchen called “Father’s Heart Ministry” when in NYC.
10. She Has Carried Out Charity Work In Ghana
She works with a charity in Ghana called GEANCO, which works to educate girls in West Africa. No matter how busy her schedule, she works hard to make time to travel to Ghana to work with these young women.
