It’s always important to follow up with what you’re passionate about and Eddie Money has certainly done that over the long span of his career. I do wonder however if his family, who were firmly embedded in law enforcement, ever fought him over the choice he made to step away from becoming a police officer to become a musician. It might have been a controversial decision in their eyes but it was undoubtedly the right decision for Eddie since he became a hit in the 1970’s and 80’s. Unfortunately his career took kind of a big hit in the 80’s, though he managed to recover and make a comeback. He’s still performing today despite the decline in his popularity, as he has a lot of loyal fans that are still willing to come and see him perform.
In fact a few of his songs are still considered to be fairly big hits.
5. Baby Hold On
It’s still possible to hear this on the radio from time to time and in other areas where people like to play the oldies tunes. That’s kind of sad that Money has been relegated to oldies’ stations but to be honest anything from the 80’s an before is started to be labeled as such, much as it was for those who loved the 70’s and 60’s music had to go through in the 90’s.
4. Shakin
This song was very popular on MTV at one point, when they were still in the business of playing music videos. It even had an appearance on Beavis and Butthead, the popular cartoon about two less than intelligent high school kids that loved to sit, watch music videos, and just act insanely stupid for the majority of their show. Eddie Money was just one of many artists that they made fun of.
3. Take Me Home Tonight
This song made a lot of appearances in movies and TV thanks to its dynamic sound and the ease with which it fit into just about anything. I can recall many days singing this song aloud or to myself just because it was one of those tunes that you couldn’t help but keep singing once it got stuck in your head. It was even possible to modify it just a bit if you really tried.
2. Two Tickets to Paradise
This is a fun song that a lot of people tended to like when it first came out and would sing over and over either as a parody or because they really liked it. Most recently Eddie Money was in a commercial where he sang the main line of the song while posing as a travel agent. No offense to the man but time has not been kind to him since he seems to have aged in a very big way.
1. Walk On Water
This is another song that’s made it big in movies and TV because of its sound and the powerful way it’s delivered. The track is inspirational in a way because of the lead-in and carries that same feeling throughout the entire song.
Say what you want about Eddie Money, but the guy made some very memorable tracks throughout his career.
