The Gentlemen Season 2 ended with the crime empire expanding beyond the English criminal world. Apart from extending the weed empire southward to Italy, a South American connection brings a cocaine cartel into the mix. This sets up several exciting possibilities for the next chapter, where Eddie (Theo James) and Susie (Kaya Scodelario) are likely to drift further away from Bobby (Ray Winstone), who has become quite overbearing with a vision he wouldn’t divulge to the pair.
Unless that changes, The Gentlemen Season 3 is poised to pit Eddie and Susie against her father as they pursue their independence. Season 2’s twist ending hints at a partnership between the duo and Carlos Vargas (Cosimo Fusco), the cocaine lord from Peru. It remains to be seen how that plays out in the next installment, expected to arrive in late 2027. Netflix greenlit Season 3 in August, ahead of Season 2’s premiere on September 3, 2026.
Unpacking The Gentlemen Season 2’s Twist Ending
The new entry kicked off with Eddie and Susie’s quest to expand her father’s marijuana empire. After devising a plan to decriminalize weed with the help of Lord Richard Hawthorne (Hugh Bonneville), the pair realizes that Bobby is bent on having things done his way. He thwarts their scheme, compelling them to chase a bit of freedom. Eddie cozied up to Marco Moretti (Sergio Castellitto), leader of the Moretti crime family, through a marriage to his goddaughter Bella (Benedetta Porcaroli). Meanwhile, Susie ventured into cocaine with Joe (Tyler Conti) against her father’s wishes.
If Eddie intended to advance his criminal career through the marriage to Bella, his plan collapsed with Bella’s death right after their wedding. The Duke sets out on a vengeance to avenge Bella, partnering with Marco to put out a hit on Bobby in prison, believing he’s responsible for his wife’s death. Upon learning that Bobby purchased his £100 million debt to Stanley Johnston (Giancarlo Esposito) before Bella’s murder, Eddie prevents Bobby’s assassination.
Ever determined to uncover who’s behind the plane explosion that killed Bella, Eddie eventually learns that his unstable older brother, Freddy (Daniel Ings), is behind his misfortune. Brainwashed by John Dixon (Pearce Quigley) to claim leadership of the Halstead dukedom, Freddy and the leader of the Scouse crime family orchestrated the plan that claimed Bella’s life. With the brothers set against each other, Eddie spares Freddy’s life, opting to have him kill John, just like he murdered his brother Tommy Dixon (Peter Serafinowicz) in Season 1.
What Bobby’s Move Means For Eddie And Susie’s Future
After pairing Eddie and Susie off with other characters, Joe and Bella’s deaths pave the way for the series to continue with its will-they-won’t-they trope. The duo gravitated back to each other after drifting apart when Bobby foiled their expansion plan. Beyond the romantic tension between Eddie and Susie, Season 2’s finale hints at a new beginning for the pair with Carlos Vargas, who helped them lure John out to face the consequences of Bella’s death.
Susie enjoys working with the Duke. If she drags him into the cocaine arrangement with Carlos, then they are in for Bobby’s ire. The leader of the marijuana empire warned his daughter against venturing into the cocaine trade. What will Bobby do when he finds out Susie went against his wishes, and how will that affect his plans for Eddie? He clearly seems to have a vision that involves Eddie.
He spared the Duke’s life when he challenged his stance on legalizing marijuana and purchased his £100 million debt to Stanley Johnston before Eddie strengthened his connection with the leader of the Moretti crime family. Bobby obviously wants to retain his hold on Eddie. What is he gunning for, and what does it mean for Eddie and Susie, who are seemingly bound to become more than crime partners?
How Bella’s Death Sets Up A Major Conflict For The Gentlemen Season 3
From Stanley Johnston’s mysterious agenda to the future of Eddie’s relationship with Freddy, The Gentlemen Season 2 left several lingering threads for the next chapter to explore. The season also sets up a major problem for the Duke with his in-law, Marco Moretti. The crime boss is fond of his goddaughter; how would he react when he learns Eddie’s brother had a hand in her death? Will John’s head be enough recompense for the loss? If not, will Eddie be willing to sacrifice Freddy to avert a fallout with the Italian mafia?
Eddie spared Freddy’s life in the finale, but compelled him to saw off the head of his spiritual brother. It’s hard to tell what’s next for the brothers, but Eddie might be forced to choose between Freddy and his Italian partners. How that plays out will likely become one of the most interesting moments of The Gentlemen Season 3. Check out the most unexpected TV show cancelations of 2026.
