By now a lot of fans realize that Avril Lavigne got an early start and began to show signs of burnout at some point in her career since her fame came way too fast and it kind of exhausted her supply of creativity. At least that’s what it felt like since she’s been appearing in fits and starts for a number of years despite being a very desired-singer when it comes to her fans and audiences. Her hit songs are still just as good as they were when released but anything new is still forthcoming it seems and fans are no doubt waiting with baited breath to see just what she has in store for them. At this point in her life Avril is definitely much more mature than she was when she started, but that also means that her raw talent has had a chance to shift and become something that’s bolstered by a great deal of experience as well.
Here are a few of her songs as used in movies and TV.
5. Eragon – Keep Holding On
Eragon was supposed to be one of at least two or three films but the box office numbers kind of forced that idea to be put on hold since it really didn’t perform the way that everyone thought it might. The biggest hype came from the fact that the author of the book was still a teenager and had somehow written a bestselling novel that people thought was wonderful. However it was later, when many more people had read the book and seen the movie that criticism started to flow and the story was likened to many other stories in such ways that made it seem like a blatant ripoff. There’s always a call for creativity, but if you watch the film you see far too many similarities to other epic tales, close enough that you get the feeling that it’s the same tale with a different cover.
4. Bring It On: All or Nothing – My Happy Ending
When Britney has to change schools due to her father being reassigned to a different location her world turns upside down as she has to give up cheerleading since it’s an unwritten code among her and her friends. When the cheerleading squad at her new school sees the skill she possesses however they continue to push until she finally gives in and begins to cheer again, much to the chagrin of her friends, or at least one of them. In the end she figures out that cheerleading is what she does and what she’s best at, and that the life she had can easily fit into the life she’s now living.
3. Scrubs – I’m With You
Scrubs had a lot of tender moments that were there to break up the comedy now and again, since obviously these people worked with one another but they also shared a lot of different emotions with one another. In some way it almost makes you wonder if people that work alongside each other in real hospitals are this close at times or they look at it as just a career and not a chance to get to know the people they’re working with. That seems kind of impersonal but it also seems like it would keep them from having any unwanted emotional conflicts with one another at an inopportune time.
2. Lip Sync Battle – Girlfriend
It’s hard to tell what’s more disturbing, Jeff Dye dressed up as Marilyn Manson, or Rob Riggle dressed in drag. Nope, it’s Rob Riggle by a landslide. Still, like every other person that comes onto that stage they both give a pretty decent performance given that they’re dressed up in a severely laughable outfit and looking like they belong in a carnival rather than onstage. This show is just great and in many ways it gives actors a different way to look ridiculous and have a good time entertaining the crowd. If one knew how to get into the audience it would be something they might never forget.
1. Alice in Wonderland – Alice
This version of Alice in Wonderland has taken a lot of criticism but if you ever read the original story you might not get on Tim Burton quite as much since the original tale is quite morbid in some respects and even disturbing in others. Burton does manage to make things a little weird to say the least but he keeps them moving and keeps them entertaining as well. The fight with the Jabberwocky and the battle between the two armies was very well done and even Alice was cast just perfectly since she displayed the kind of disbelief that you might expect from someone that thought it was all a dream.
Avril Lavigne is supposed to be producing another album this coming year, and it’s already a safe bet that a lot of fans can’t wait.
